Major fail is the user interface. How about some words on the front panel?!?! Sorry, but I'm not a Hieroglyphics expert and really would prefer some text rather than having to memorize what each symbol means. Sure, with time I can remember what does what but you shouldn't have to learn...

FIIO first cassette player CP13 is officially released!

Yeah but there's 20 pages in this thread where it was stated that wasn't going to happen several times!

FIIO first cassette player CP13 is officially released!

I'm pretty sure that's not gonna be a thing they do. I have an X5 2nd gen DAP and I don't think they have a "send it in for battery replacement" program for that so, once it's dead, it's likely dead unless there's a Youtube video and a path to opening it up myself!

FIIO first cassette player CP13 is officially released!

Yeah but remember there was some order of magnitude of products out there back then compared to now. Many portable tape players, lots of competition, a better economy, etc. Today there are hardly any tape players available and, when you find them, they are generally not as good as what came...

    That's a good offering price.

FIIO first cassette player CP13 is officially released!

I think the best option is to find an old one you like on popular auction sites and send it in to Retrospekt for service. They've worked on two of mine and got them running like new. Everyone seems to be lamenting the lack of Dolby so the only way to get that is buy an old player and...

FIIO first cassette player CP13 is officially released!

For me it's always a "check it out first and switch to what sounds best" deal. Every cassette is different, every bit of music has levels and frequencies that are naturally able to hide hiss/noise, etc. But some cassettes do indeed sound better with Dolby on so I'm glad my decks have it as...

    Introducing Shanling CD-T35 - Three-Legged Summit-Fi CD Player & Streamer at $18,999 USD

I'll add my opinion to the mix and it shadows those of others here - While the player is kind of a piece of art and does have some high quality components and, as a result, a lot of colorful advertising propaganda, it's a CD player and, well, CD quality is what it is. If I were to buy this...

My Sony WM-16 is near mint and was refurbished a couple years ago.

FIIO first cassette player CP13 is officially released!

There are several industries that need to stop with the inaccessible, un-removable and non-replaceable batteries and the personal audio device arena is a prime offender here. Seriously, there's no reason they can't add 4 screws to the back cover and let you replace the battery when it no longer...

FIIO first cassette player CP13 is officially released!

You can never please everyone and there are a lot of members here who seem to think they have all the expertise and know what is and is not good. You are putting out a product that might not yet have mass appeal or have a large target audience but at least you are trying something so I for one...

FIIO first cassette player CP13 is officially released!

Uh, no. You're missing the point of my post and making it into something I did not say. I already have everything I own in FLAC, WAV, MP3, etc. and it's all contained on two small micro SD cards in my Fiio X5 and in the SD slot in my car and all on my cellphone and can play it all already...

FIIO first cassette player CP13 is officially released!

Take an existing DAP and add a tape transport to it is really what they ought to be doing. All the adjustments are in software as it is (with the supporting electronics of course) but I equate the tape to my SD cards in my Fiio X5 and it does everything it needs to do with the music on those...

FIIO first cassette player CP13 is officially released!

I still have a Sony WM-16 which is near mint and still works great (belt changes and cleaning) and my main deck is a Sony TC-K890ES What I want to see: Direct drive so we never have to change a belt A user-adjustable speed control because I've never had a cassette deck or Walkman that did not...

Reply to review by 'kevinkar' on item 'FiiO KA13'

Any possibility of a comparison to the sound quality of the KA1? I bought one only a few months ago and it sounds great. I usually pair it with the 1More Triple Driver ear buds which make for a very neutral sound. I'm quite happy with the KA1 but this KA13 seems intriguing for the price as it...

Quick update to my 1More Penta Driver impressions - I'm gonna say it's not *better* than the Triple Drivers but it does seem to reproduce a bit more of the spectrum (again, weighted to the highs just a bit) so they could be perceived as "better" if you like the sound more. But, to me, they are...

    The discovery thread!

Received the 1More Penta Driver IEMs today and have listened to them for about an hour and a half so far, comparing them to the Triple Drivers I like so much and I have some quick impressions. This could be due to more drivers and a wider frequency range but they immediately seem skewed a bit...

It's shipping now. I decided to grab one as I got an e-mail from 1More with 15% off so figured why not since it's easy on the wallet. Should be here within the week I'd guess.

Thus the case for level matching output while testing. Easier to do with speakers than it is for headphones/IEMs. More impedance = lower volume and we all know higher volume "sounds better"! I've never had a set of headphones/IEM's with swappable cables so have never been able to test. I...

I'm not really into the hobby of IEMs, DACs, etc. Rather I have looked for incrementally better products now and then as I see a need to do so, when a wire breaks or when I am wondering if I'm not hearing something I probably should. Usually I get a newer product (not just this year's over...

    The discovery thread!

The 1More Triple Driver are the best IEMs I've ever had. They sound incredibly neutral without overemphasizing bass or treble. They can get quite loud enough to damage my hearing without any noticeable distortion. Comparing them within the 1More family, they sound way more neutral than the...

What are the best non-Android DAPs? Or are they all gone?

It was also way more than was necessary to make a point but it was interesting.

What are the best non-Android DAPs? Or are they all gone?

Yeah, the increases in fidelity are more or less a losing proposition in my opinion because they are more incremental than anything. So larger devices with huge touchscreens and chip Y instead of chip X really don't justify much to me. If you're going from a cassette Walkman to a new HD...

What are the best non-Android DAPs? Or are they all gone?

It's a valid question.. No, my hearing is not what it used to be and I have persistent tinnitus in both ears - a high pitched ring in the 10k range. But, with the music turned up to the right level (not THAT high, just high enough) it drowns out the ringing and I'm pretty sure I'm hearing the...

What are the best non-Android DAPs? Or are they all gone?

I originally bought a Cayin N5 when they came out and was very happy with it but it broke only a couple weeks in and I had to return it. Cayin originally tried to tell me it was working fine but it was a mechanical failure with their click wheel and buttons which was obvious if you simply tried...
