Btw, will upgrading Japanese player here in US may cause capping?
No. I imported a Japanese ZX707 and have performed many upgrades, including a full Android OS upgrade, and no cap has been introduced.

So is it true that I would be completely out of luck on the warranty with an JP imported ZX707? Am kind of interested but at the same time that is quite the risk. Or can it still be repaired worldwide at the very least?

I'm looking at a ZX707 or a new iBasso DX180, latter being appealing to me for its ability to replace the battery.

When purchasing my 707 JP, eBay proposed 2yrs warranty via Allstate for a hundred bucks, took it. Typically if player is defective it will break within that period of time or won't break at all. Unless I drop or or else.

alright I lied my only remaining and biggest gripe on this thing is the SD card slot. I absolutely hate this design. guess I should get used to slow transfer speeds instead.
I am downloading the music directly in the player *hail android*

Speaking about support for sd-card capacity. Both US and JP players accept 512GB sd card. Have Samsung 512GB installed on one and SanDisk on another.

For reference, models I use:
SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-I 512 GB A2, Class 10, V30, U3, A2, 200 MB/s

SAMSUNG PRO Plus 512GB MicroSDXC, 180 MB/s, Full HD & 4K UHD, UHS-I, C10, U3, V30, A2
