Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I'm currently at 7.1, but hope to bring it to 11.2 once we get the basement renos done in about 2 years.- AstronomerXI

Schiit Gungnir DAC
Interesting comment to make without having heard the new Gungnir. Frame rates on video cards can be measured. Quality of audio output from a DAC cannot, and is subjective to the listener, so your analogy doesn't quite fit here. Is the end user using headphones or speakers? What else is in the...- AstronomerXI

But making an intentionally divisive statement ("pure copium") then putting on the 😇 with "wasn't my intention to stir the pot"? Nah, that's just trolling and gaslighting.- AstronomerXI

Schiit Gungnir DAC
You said: "Come on man... Nobody says Gungnir MB > Yggy OG and if they did it's pure copium." (emphasis mine) Then "wasnt my intention to stir the pot..." Alrighty then. Given that audio is a hugely subjective thing, and at one point Jason said that he preferred the Gungnir MB for...- AstronomerXI

I should send this to the Quebec company selling a US$35k DAC (and many other audio manufacturers) 😏- AstronomerXI

Very nice setup! I'm still researching mounts. I've managed to convincingly show my wife why the mount I'll need will, by necessity, be not inexpensive. If I take the 12" SCT out of the equation, I can go with a smaller and relatively less expensive mount, but I'm loathe to do so.- AstronomerXI

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Don't hold your breath waiting for the third book. Last I heard even his editor has given up on seeing it, having not read a new word in years. The author has stated that as long as he's mentally unwell it's unlikely another word will be written. It's a shame because the first book especially...- AstronomerXI

As long as it's instrumental music, I have no problem enjoying both words on the page and music in my ears. I don't lose my place while reading. If anything, music enhances my ability to focus.- AstronomerXI

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I was a precocious reader. I was reading thick James Michener novels and Tolkien by the time I was 8. I can't thank my parents enough for instilling a love of reading in me and my brother. The best evenings are stormy weather, a good book, and headphones - attached to my main Schiit stack -...- AstronomerXI

Because I grew up in an at-the-time relatively isolated village, one wasn't exposed to much variety. To this day I cannot listen to Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Deep Purple Bob Seger, and a few others. The Clash, Gang of Four, Rank and File, The Blasters, X, Wall of Voodoo etc. were revelations.- AstronomerXI
