HE1000V2 is a step up in details, but other than that is just a side step from HD800S, as on grand scale the tonality is essentially the same, if not even more analytical and dry.
HE6SE might have better bass and overall a better all arounder IMHO, but details and soundstage are not as great as either HD800 or HE1000V2.

Yeah the stage of any HE-6 not up to those soundstage standards. Very careful PEQ and an R2R DAC helps a lot on detail - making it maybe a 'B' vs todays $1500-2500 range cans - but my modded/PEQ'd version has recently been stepped on by a HEK Stealth and even more by a ZMF Auteur. The 800S on my (now sold off BHCs) did have more of the subtle details I look for than my 6 SE, but when using the 800 S on my Rag 1, it lost a lot of timbre and trailing note richness that Senn 600/800 can do, leaving the soundstage as the big plus over the 6 SE.
