Did you check the files metadata with MP3Tag? Are the individual files divided into disk 1-2-3-4 for instance?

and not to forget the fact that 4.4mm pentaconn is increasingly allowing cables to be shared between desktop and portable equipment :) (plus the fact that cables with 4.4mm pentaconn can easily be converted to single-ended use with the correct adapter / DON'T try this the other way around!!) ...
