Just when I was pretty happy the rpi 5 can now run dsd256x48 using the 7ECUL. The dac correction now is making it impossible for the rpi5… guess will have to wait till rpi6 😂- dericchan1

I wonder if it’s worthwhile to upgrade ram speed, I am currently using some ddr4 64g ram. I mean I never really have any interest in going after dsd1024 but would be nice to know if ram speed does matter- dericchan1

Ya it’s probably an Intel vs amd thing. My friend with a 13500 no gpu, can still run dsd512x48 on his spring 3 kte but default filters only, he also runs audiolense convolution too. He sold his 4080 because he had gone through all the different filters and always ended up liking the default...- dericchan1

My 13600k with 3080ti can run any modulators and filters (except sinc L) at dsd512x48 with correction Dsd1024 can only be run on the two experimental modulators and any of the non-ec modulators - like AMSDM7. Actually pcm1536 with dac correction does sound quite nice and can be run with a rpi5- dericchan1

Even after the memory bug fix in the latest hqp version, the dac correction feature is still pretty demanding for processing power. It did fix the memory usage tho. Again, it runs totally fine with my 13600k desktop pc so it’s not like you need a super computer to run it. But I don’t own and...- dericchan1

again I don’t think there is any dac out there that would not benefit from hqplayer but for a dac like the cyan2, hqplayer is a necessity. If YouTube reviewers think the cyan 2 is close to a spring or may but not quite, they have not heard the cyan 2 with hqplayer in dsd with dac correction..- dericchan1

I admit I have not been giving the love the cyan 2 deserves lately while I am honeymooning with the dsc2, the sound of which is simply too addictive…, everytime i swapped in the cyan 2 for a brief session, it puts a smile on my face. Everything just sounds right and makes me feel guilty of not...- dericchan1

There really isn’t much to chase after dsd1024 anyway, unless you are looking for added noise- dericchan1

Exactly, I took my DSC2 (not to be mistaken with DCS 2) to my friend's place to compare with his Aqua La Scala MKii. He was absolutely blown away and asked me how much did it cost and guessed at least $3500 being a DIY dac- dericchan1

I am not sure why ppl associate sound quality with price. I have heard some very expensive dacs and the cyan 2 sounded better hands down… I have no doubt dacs do sound different and it’s pretty easy for ppl to associate that dac A is expensive and sound different = better. I have not heard the...- dericchan1

I could be wrong. But the correction to me is most apparent in DSD512, it was used to be not as clean, less forward compared to DSD256. With the correction, noise floor is much closer to DSD256. I am not sure how it is possible but with the correction, bass seems to hit a bit harder as well. I...- dericchan1

I was a bit over cautious initially (being one of the pioneers ordering the cyan 2 with Jo) If I have to do it again or purchasing a Serene with Jo, I would not hesitate to use another cheaper payment method- dericchan1
