    Earbuds Round-Up

VE Monk SMG just arrived and not fully burned in yet but can quite easily report it's one of VE's best yet for instrumental. Less coloured than APWS and more 'conventionally' tuned with a balanced signature and great technicalities. Similar to Zen SL in tuning but a touch warmer, better dynamics...

    Earbuds Round-Up

I have the Open Real from Tozo. It has a beautiful stage, very enjoyable. The only issue I found is the volume and bass impact. I'm close to maxing the volume out and even with EQ adjustment there's roll off that makes some instruments down there sound flat. Nonetheless, for the right genres and...

FQL Nexus (32ohm beryllium) + Clan Audio Copper Gold Foil Nexus - a series of connections - an earbud created for a group of friends connected by a shared love of music and flatheads. This one sits between Caelum and Blue Moon in tonality, with better extension and quantity in the low end than...

The one in the picture is a UIEM actually. I'm not sure if they make customs, I only ever enquired about universal. Legacy Ears website shows CIEM options. I would be surprised if Legacy Ears is not TXN, or that there's considerable overlap in talent, as both are out of Hanoi.

If Legacy Ears is the new operating name for TXN of Vietnam, then yes! This was a set I was looking to purchase last year but it never materialised for a number of reasons. Absolutely stunning craftsmanship.

    The PENON official thread

To preface I don't collect IEMs, thus the unicorn I'm after is an IEM that does everything. I need a transparent and textured low end low end for acoustic and low strings and an upper midrange and treble that is exciting and defined but not fatiguing for more aggressive genres. I need an IEM...

    The PENON official thread

Maybe Penon are satisfied with current demand from those who are willing to purchase direct from China? I know for some of their sets they've had to go on backorder which implies they're operating close to capacity anyway... Could be a whole load of other reasons, I doubt anyone in this forum...

Graph suggest more 1kHz for grounded vocals and midrange along with less upper midrange and treble. Bass and transition to low midrange appear unaltered going by the one graph I've seen. The changes further up are used to rebalance the tonality to something more embodied and less bright.

It does depend on what we mean by synergy. For me, synergy implies exactly that - a source extracting more information and doing it more musically. A more dynamic listen (which is generally my observation from desktop amping) on its own is not a worthwhile synergy if it loses technical flare...

Looks like a great portable option for those that like to take their IEMs on the go. On this topic: I see a lot more people feeding huge desktop stacks into their IEMs. Do we feel there are actually IEMs that truly benefit from this approach or is it a matter of synergy that could be achieved...

    Earbuds Round-Up

Ofcourse! It's good value! What I was saying is that if the new Moondrop struggles to compete with that then it's not offering a great deal from a company that could probably do a lot more. Any way, this is me just ranting and is speculative. Could be a great little bud offering super value!
