Phoenix-Scottsdale anyone?
Moving to Tempe in June from DC. Would love to help organize something to meet people of common interests. Are there any decent hifi shops in the area?- mralexosborn

DC Area Head-Fi Meet Planning (ongoing)
Tubes are my primary interest. No headphones particularly but having been out of the loop for a while, I'd be interested to hear any newer models. I'd be able to bring a pair of HE-400's and maybe even my vintage Sansui. -

Is it worthwhile upgrading from vintage amps?
Well, I think I'm going to keep it thanks to all of the encouragement. Only reason I considered parting with it is because I was offered 10x what I paid for it and I will be graduating college soon (it is a PITA to move). But I doubt I will be able to afford something as nice as this to use as a...- mralexosborn

Is it worthwhile upgrading from vintage amps?
Th This is precisely my fear. I wonder if it would be worth it to spend a couple hundred to get it recapped. It works but I'm sure it sounded better in 1974 than now 43 years later.- mralexosborn

Is it worthwhile upgrading from vintage amps?
I have a Sansui AU-7900 that I am trying to get rid of. It sounds fantastic and is pretty clean considering its age but it is a burden to move around with (about to graduate college) and I know inevitably it will require major service (although everything works currently). I use it as my...- mralexosborn

What is the ideal headphone for reentry into audiophilia?
I liked the SR-225i but I found the soundstage too narrow and the sound to be too forward. The only Grado I've really liked was the HF-2 (paired with tubes). I like the HD600 but I have yet to find one for a reasonable price around here or elsewhere. The ZMF seems like it might be a good choice...- mralexosborn

What is the ideal headphone for reentry into audiophilia?
A little over a year ago, I sold off my setup of a Little Dot Mk3 and Grado HF-2. Before that, I've had numerous headphones and even had the pleasure of owning an older pair of Stax. In addition, I've been to a few meets in my area and have heard many grand setups. I realize now that I dearly...- mralexosborn

Real Hip Hop recommendations!
Stop. Go listen to NWTS. Easily his best album and very progressive considering how radio friendly his sound is. Other than that, some of the recent mixtapes/albums I've enjoyed have been Blue Chips 2, My Name is My Name, INNANETAPE, and Old (by Action Bronson, Pusha T, Vic Mensa, and Danny...- mralexosborn

Will the Audio Technica M50 impress a long time audiophile? If not, what would?
I hear a bit of sibilance. Is my Fiio E5 likely the culprit? It is. I suppose it is to be expected from a part from such a price point though.- mralexosborn

Plugged into my phone they sound nice. I tried plugging them into my new laptop (Lenovo Yoga 13) and was sorely disappointed. I had my Gamma1 and Fiio E5 laying around so I tried using those in combination with my laptop. I'm very impressed with this humble setup.- mralexosborn
