2x 3-pin XLR male-to-female. One for the right channel, and one for the left.

    Finding the right DAC AMP

You'll need a USB cable to go from PC to DAC, and then some 3-pin XLR interconnects to go from DAC to Amp. I'm using these, from Monoprice. They are nice thick gauge, well shielded. Hard to beat for the price. Of course, you can spend literally as much as you can imagine for better and better...

    Finding the right DAC AMP

lol! Yes! I completely missed that one. Schiit has so many devices, and retires them all the time and comes out with new ones. It's impossible to keep up! That seems to be exactly what you're looking for. If you buy it without the DAC module, it's only $399. So you can still stack it with the...

    Finding the right DAC AMP

I definitely don't want it to come off like I'm suggesting the Chi-Fi stuff is garbage. It's not. Their stuff is generally "good". But at the prices we're talking about, we want more than "good", don't we? ;) Lake People is the company behind Violectric. And if you look them up, you'll see...

    Finding the right DAC AMP

For a fully balanced all-in-one, which should fit nicely on your desk, the V226 could be quite the option. It's German made, so warranty claims will still be an overseas affair. But it's German made, so the chances of needing to RMA is small. lol This onboard DAC will not be as awesome as the...

    Finding the right DAC AMP

What's most important is that you get balanced input and full power output. This allows the DAC to output its best signal and the amp is fully designed around its own architecture.

One thing to consider, however, is these devices can easily be turned on their side. They don't need to lay flat on your desk, but stand upright. ;)

Yeah, no doubt Schiit has some LARGE designs. One of the reasons I went with the Violectric V281 over the Schiit Mjolnir 3 is the more compact footprint. Turns out, I made the right choice. The sound of the V281 is everything I wanted in life. :gs1000smile:

I upgraded from a Topping DX7 Pro the the Bifrost, and let's just say, there is no going back. Big sonic upgrade. Schiit makes some truly amazing gear.

You could setup ROON on your PC, probably use your phone to control the playback. I'm not yet a ROON user, myself, but that should be workable.

THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.

I was stupefied by how good the HE1000 Stealth is. If your signal chain is devoid of harshness, these headphones are heavenly. On the other hand, if any of your gear is prone to harshness, the HE1K is all too willing to highlight that. :D

For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

    I've been on a Prince kick lately. Bifrost 2/64 > V281 > HE1000 Stealth

    Finding the right DAC AMP

My 2 cents: Forget about Bluetooth. It's not a lossless stream, and for a desktop setup, it's really not needed. Since you are within the US, you have the luxury of getting US made at a GREAT price. I would be looking at Schiit. Sounds better than the Chinese stuff, by and large. For best...

Chord Mojo 2 Thread ___ [product released January 31, 2022 -- starting on page 95 of thread]

I highly doubt it loses that much battery. I think it's just programed to wait a while before switching over into desktop mode.
