GUSTARD DAC-R26 Balanced Decoder R2R+1Bit Dual Native Decoding Music Bridge

Sand does seemed to make a difference. Esp. in the low end punch. Whether it is doing this by minimizing the vibration in capacitors, reducing the EMI/RFI penetration by offering a denser environment, or some other voodoo magic (including placebo), I can't tell. But in my SU-6, my recent GAIA...

GUSTARD DAC-R26 Balanced Decoder R2R+1Bit Dual Native Decoding Music Bridge

Thanks for these wonderful ideas @Jake2 - I did a similar tweak to my R26 yesterday and was greeted with fantastic improvements to micro-details, layering of the sound stage, and a big leap in low end punch. The sound now is completely disconnected from my speakers. I put a copper (2mm) plate...

GUSTARD DAC-R26 Balanced Decoder R2R+1Bit Dual Native Decoding Music Bridge

Anyone using or used a Denafrips Gaia with the R26 using HDMI/I2S? If yes can you confirm it works and what mode you use(d) on the Gaia for the I2S configuration?

New denafrips DDC (Iris and Gaia)

I did a bit more research and finally got some answers from the YouTube video linked below from Denafrips. The Gaia 12th vs the original Gaia has these changes: UPOCC copper transformer of higher wattage (Side note: I have UPOCC copper interconnects from Iconoclast cables and UPOCC copper is...

New denafrips DDC (Iris and Gaia)

@rreynolds I am curious about this too, but I didn't come across your comparison if you did post one. Can you share your opinions on the differences or point me to any prior postings on the comparison?

    Audio Grade Fuses

Thanks for sharing and sorry about the expensive loss. It is for this reason that I took a bit of risk and put in far higher amp rating AM M1 fuse in my dac, but a cheaper lower amp rated (3.15A) fuse further upstream (covering a lot more devices). So hopefully the cheap one upstream always...

    Singxer SU-6

I just rushed and tried this out; paint me surprised. I am hearing all around improvements - a bit more meat on the bones, sound stage depth, bass impact, and micro details. Is there any risk that the cling wrap will melt inside?

    Singxer SU-6

My PSM156 is relatively new. I had just the LPS on the SU-6 for over a year before that. But if you are going to plunk 2K on a DDC solution, I think it might be better invested in a PSM156 that benefits your whole system or even aim for a Holo May dac first. Worthy options to explore. At some...

    Singxer SU-6

That is on my next to-do list once I get around to understanding how it is supposed to be hooked up.

    Singxer SU-6

I have a Chinese 9v Talema LPS powering my SU-6 which is hooked to a dedicated slot on my PSM156 using the Puritan Classic cable. I never heard anything like a noticeable jump in performance and so I would caution you against plunking a whole lot of money on that setup. The Audio Magic M1 fuse...

    Singxer SU-6

No, not done that - it is set to the switches for Gustard from the start as per the manual which is SW6=OFF. Never had any issues with I2S interface with it off. I doubt this has anything to do with the MCLK BNC output which would likely be a fixed value regardless of I2S settings. Even if it...

    Singxer SU-6

Yes, I have had to turn off the SU-6 (along with R26 and all other electronics) recently for an extended trip abroad and so R26 is consistent in reporting SU-6 MCLK as EXT.

    Singxer SU-6

Also possible that the person writing the documentation got it completely wrong in the first place. If the MCLK BNC output is not 10MHz, you would need seperate outputs for 44.1 & 48Khz frequencies. I haven't come across a device using 44.1/48 clock inputs on a single BNC and switch between them...

    Singxer SU-6

I think the SU-6 manual is only talking about I2S pinout frequencies and not the physical MCLK BNC output. If it is not a 10Mhz output shouldn't there be two MCLK BNC ports for 44.1 and 48KHz frequencies (or their derivatives)? Like on the Denafrips DDCs? The single output to me suggests...
