You will need a preamp or digital volume control to the Vali on Campfire IEMs because the volume play is almost non-existent! Let me know how it goes!- theveterans

Campfire Chat - Official Campfire Audio 2024 Thread!
No EQ for me. I think your DAP/source is emphasizing the treble note edges too much if it's peaky/aggressive, and EQ IMHO will sacrifice finest refinements in the note edges. I even use the Pentaconn Corier Brass to make the treble (and the whole frequency range especially the bass) even more...- theveterans

ZMF Aegis Official Thread
At max volume, Susvara is enough to go listen to almost as loud as IMAX movie theater levels when watching Netflix movies, but even at max volume, Aegis and Susvara won't make you uncomfortable even at that level of loudness due to how very refined sounding both of them are- theveterans

This is assuming every part of the DAC is working in perfect ideal conditions. Doesn't take into account the clock jitter, noise floor modulation, digital filter mathematical interpolation or lack of thereof and circuit design and implementation in analog and digital section of the DAC, let...- theveterans

THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.
With the DCA Club discount, I'd put it on the at least top 2 or 3 of the best closed back headphones on its price range. I need to hear the Liric 2 first but E3 at 1.6K for a closed back is really amazing. Makes Hifiman Audirvina sound like a kid's toy headphone- theveterans

Same with the even cheaper TAD KT66 (also Chinese made tubes IIRC) though some Aegis users find it not so good on their system- theveterans

HiFiMan Susvara
You don't really have to spend that much for a entry Susvara amp heck some people are happy with their Topping A70 Pro driving the Susvara. Until those people get a really good grasp of how good Susvara sounds when it's on a really good chain, ignorance is a bliss- theveterans

Is VST band-limited?
On A NOS and filterless DAC, that would show up exactly like that (tons of images). With proper filtering and reconstruction though the 12KHz square would show up as 12KHz sine on the scope as confirmed by @Quazar- theveterans

Found it: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/zmf-aegis-official-thread.972476/post-18074058 Definitely would love to hear the ZMF version with the exact tubes for comparison. They will sound different though right away with the exact same tubes just because of output impedance differences- theveterans

If it had a different output transformers, it will have a slightly different sound signature than the DIY versions. I gotta look it up just to make sure that it wasn’t just the rectifier chokes that were changed- theveterans

Lina amp is a meh synergy with the Susvara. You’ll have way better experience with the AIC-10 running the Sus and Caldera open on the Lina amp OTOH is a bliss- theveterans

Can you point to me the source for the custom transformers with the ZMF version? AFAIK it was only the rectifier chokes that were custom made to accept at 5V/3V tube like 5U4 and the rest of the transformers were still Lundahl- theveterans

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
MIB does have a tiny bit more depth ever so slightly. The presentation generally slightly wider and taller than A2 and more localized in the imaging than the A2, but its overall lack of emphasis in any frequency range will NEVER make it forward and shouty in the vocal region. A2 can have a...- theveterans

It slays most IEMs on flight conditions just on pure tuning! The bass and treble cuts through every baby crying, jet engine noise and noisy passengers. It has plenty of dynamic range and scale for ends so that also helps with dynamics during very noisy conditions like on flights :)- theveterans
