Aegis DIY Tube Headphone Amplifier
This is kind of crazy.. out of curiosity I went and check how much LT1085 are over here. Apparently, I can get them for about $0.8 each and will arrive in 3 days... so 10 of them will be arriving Tuesday... even before the max882..- tommyc

Aegis DIY Tube Headphone Amplifier
Yeah... after playing with the bridge a little more this morning, i wasn't very happy with the ripple either... I've ordered a few MAX882 to play with, it only has 200mA at 3.3v, but it is the fastest LDO i can get my hands on and should be enough for 6 relays. Also ordered some 3V G6K relays...- tommyc

Aegis DIY Tube Headphone Amplifier
So.. I breadboarded the circuit and with 4 1N4007 and a 220uf cap rectifying a 5VAC source(i don't have a 6VAC supply), the 6 relays plus the bridge takes about 130mA when on and 5mA idling. With the 5vac source, rectified dc drop to 4.3v under load(pretty much just the voltage drop of the...- tommyc

Aegis DIY Tube Headphone Amplifier
Why not put a terminal block into the capacitor holes and roll all the caps you want with a turn of the screw? If and when you settle on THE capacitor, only solder them on then. On that note, solder the tall electrolytic to the back of the aegis pcb, get some long legged tube sockets (Belton...- tommyc

Aegis DIY Tube Headphone Amplifier
Hi, I am trying to create a substitute for the elma switch. My goal is to make something that is easy to build, easy to source and also enables the 600 ohm output from the lundahl transformers. This relay network is what i come up with: - it takes 4 relays to mimic the functionality of...- tommyc

Woo Audio WA23.....
I use it to pre for the Enleum, prefer the WA23/Enleum alone for headphones. However, when i drive my speakers with the enleum, it sounds much much better with the WA23 in the chain.- tommyc

They should be included in the price now. Used to be a $500USD upgrade on. If you can get the machine without them, I guess you can use isoaccustic orea and pocket the difference.- tommyc

The New Enleum AMP-23R Amplifier (Successor to Bakoon AMP-13R) Thread
Manage to snatch one at the old price.. hopefully it will arrive within the week... super hype... hope it pairs well with the dca stealth. Anyone try fuse rolling with the 23r? I need to replace the fuse anyways because it is from a 110v region, might as well put something better in.- tommyc

McIntosh MHA200 Impressions
The hiss very possibly comes form the 12bh7. I had pretty bad hiss on my unit, it went away completely after replacing the 12bh7 with tung-sol nos ones. The flash you saw when the tube turns on is call the heater flash. It doesn’t affect the performance of the tube during normal operation, but...- tommyc

Totally, those stock tubes are really a hinderance to the wonderful machine below. If you like the Mullard sound, you may want to hunt for a pair of their 1950s square getter version from the Mitcham factory. My currently favourite is a pair of Marconi branded B309 from Mullard Blackburn. I...- tommyc

I have the same thing happen to me. When I connect my EE Odin to the mha200, the right side has some electrical crackle noise, the left side has a faint "laser gun" type noise when the music is very faint or silent(Can't hear it with my maze elite thou). The problem completely went away after...- tommyc

That puzzle me a little when i place my order as well. You just need to select the 4.Ai at the top of the page right below all the address stuff, and all the options related to the CIEMs will go away.- tommyc
