Audio Grade Fuses
I am also into AMR gold. I found out that some of the cheap chinese AMR-copies sounds great. Better than the real thing actually. They sound natural. A friend of mine have tried the SR Blue and he prefered the AMR. The Blue are too much hi-fi.- Dalgas

Angstrom 200 Home Entertainment Director '90's DAC - info and impressions
Well I had to do it - otherwise would not be fair: Gumby vs Angstrom 200 using the Philips Cd 304 mk2 as source has a clear winner: Gumby! My Philips cd 304 mk2 has been modified with a new NOS-dac board. I dont like the sound of that NOS dac but the coax-spdif out is clearly very good. I still...- Dalgas

Angstrom 200 Home Entertainment Director '90's DAC - info and impressions
I have now inserted the Angstrom 200 in my main system. (Dynaudio Coumpound 4 and a very modified Stemfoort SF 60) Using Angstrom as a dac - hooked up to a modified Philips cd 304 MK2 player. I can now compare the Angstrom 200/Philips cd to my Schiit Gumby Gen. 5/SOtM-sMS 200. Not at all a fair...- Dalgas

Angstrom 200 Home Entertainment Director '90's DAC - info and impressions
I now - I´m kick-starting an old thread..... I just picked up an Angstrom 200/205 combo for just 300 dkr (25 USD). The Angstrom 200 have replaced a Cambridge DAC3 sitting between my Pioneer 304 mk2 cd-player and my amp (Myst TMA3 ) driving a pair of Evox speakers. I must say I´m shocked. The...- Dalgas

Schiit Eitr impression and USB-SPDIF converters discussion
I have just bought a SOtM sMS-200. It is a BIG jump i SQ coming from a labtop. Compared the SOtM to the MicroRendu and they are very close. I also had the SOtM sMS 200 Ultra on loan. It is quite a bit better but not the extra 1.000 USD better.- Dalgas

Now I have been feeding the USB Gen. 5 with Music - on replay - for Four straight days and nights. It sounded better after 2-3 days and better still today. So it was a burn-in isue.- Dalgas

Thanks Puma Cat! That is probably the case. I tested again with my labtop and the same "harshness" is there but it is less pronounced. The Mrendu is very revealing. Will give the Gen. 5 some more time to burn in - and report back my findings - Dalgas

Schiit Eitr impression and USB-SPDIF converters discussion
Anyone using Sonore MicroRendu or SOtM sMS-200 in combination with Eitr/Gen. 5? I have just borrowed a MicroRendu from a friend - but it sounds awful. Well perhaps not awful - a lot has improved, but mids are suddenly very Cold and hard. Not so when I play directly from my labtop to my dac (a...- Dalgas

I am using foobar2000 so wouldn´t know about JRiver. I did have to use the alternative driver though. The Eitr/Gen 5 is a bit warmer sounding than the PUC2 and quite a bit more resolved (kind on the ears)- Dalgas

Schiit Eitr impression and USB-SPDIF converters discussion
I have upgraded from Yellowtec PUC2 lite to Gen 5 (in my Gumby). The Gen 5 (Eitr) is a much better match in my system. The stereoimage is about the same as Yellowtec. But Yellowtec is not as resolved as Gen 5. The bass is more detailed, fast and deep on Gen 5. Sold my Yellowtec - which paid for...- Dalgas

Schiit Eitr impression and USB-SPDIF converters discussion
Just installed a Gen 5 in my Gumby. It was quite easy. I absolutely LOVES the sound!!! It really transforms the Gumby from having a very detailed and neutral but quite sterile sound, to a much more natural and sweet sound - without losing any details. The bass is downright frightening good...- Dalgas

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Christmas comes early this year. I was about to pull the trigger on a SOtM sMS-200 mini network player. I guess I'll wait another week or two now. Maybe there is a new piece of Schiit that I must have.- Dalgas

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I use a regular Audio-optimized laptop with SSD. I rip with EAC (exact audio copy) - should be as good as AccurateRip. I use Yellowtec PUC2 lite powered by a 5v powerbank. Still Sonore made fun of me.....- Dalgas

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Been following the talk about buying cds and ripping them. I do that too and play the flac-files from a labtop via a USB-spdif converter to the BNC on my Gumby. Why? Because it sounds good. Better than any cd-player/drive I have owned. But thinking it over this dont make much sense. Why should...- Dalgas

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I dont use the Gen. 2 USB converter in my Gumby. I use a Yellowtec PUC2 Lite with an Neutrik AES-BNC converter and it is a big improvement. I will not upgrade to Gen. 5 before I have read some comparisons to a good outboard USB-converter, like Yellowtec, Stello U3, Audiophilleo etc. I hope that...- Dalgas

Schiit Gungnir DAC
I Think the Gumby is a totally different beast than the Gungnir. I would not call it an upgrade. You are in fact getting a very different sound. Gumby is very neutral and some care must be taken when matching with speakers and amp. Dont use the Gumby USB interface -it is not bad but a good...- Dalgas

Curious Cables USB
There is always a cheaper alternative. But my experience is that you get what you pay for. I did not get around the curious cable. For some time I just used cheap USB cable from BlueJeans - made in to a Dual headed cable because I use a powerbank as powersupply. The other Day I found my Chord...- Dalgas

Audio Grade Fuses
Have read the first 12 pages of this very interesting thread. I started my venture into the World of audiograde fuses about two years ago. My amp is a NAD M3. I live in Denmark so its 230 V and has two 3.15A (powersection) and one 100mA fuses. Read a post in a Canadian forum about changing...- Dalgas

I have swapped fuses in my NAD M3 - nice improvement! I have the same plan with my Gumby - but not until the guarantee expires. I did however find a very interesting post about fuse-swap in Gungnir: http://www.stereophile.com/comment/538070#comment-538070- Dalgas
