[Interest Check] Toronto meet
Thomasr, Are you interested in hosting this year? I kind of keep my eye out for new meeting spaces, and one site that caught my eye this year was GIGGSTER. With so many people working from home I think we're going to see more variety available in rental spaces we could potentially use as a...- greyhorse

Even though my only new purchase is a lousy sounding pair of Hemps, I'm definitely interested in a meet.- greyhorse

Generic vs. Budget Specialty Audio
Having thought about this a bit, maybe the more relevant question is whether there's any point in budget specialty audio at all. Thinking about specialty digital cameras, the mainstream equivalent smartphone has become so good that when you consider image quality for general use at smartphone...- greyhorse

Generic vs. Budget Specialty Audio
So Hi, I’m Jeff. I’ve been in this hobby since the Headwize days and I still find I like to tinker on the DIY side of things. DIY audio has always been a tweaky hobby and it’s all too easy getting lost trying the latest FOTM capacitor or wire or potentiometer that’ll FINALLY give the sound...- greyhorse

Toronto GTA (Markham) 2023 Summer meet
Since no one else is going I guess I post first. First a big thank you to ambchang for hosting! It was great meeting everyone again. Hopefully we can meet again more regularly. One request though. Can everyone chip in whatever they can when showing up? ambchang wants to host more of these...- greyhorse

Head-Fi Meet - Toronto GTA (Markham), Sunday June 25, 2023
As long as work allows I'm there as well. Really looking forward to seeing everyone and dusting off the 'ol camera to get in a few snaps. It'll be interesting seeing how much older everyone looks after COVID. I know I look ancient now!- greyhorse

Looks like you're talking about the Angus Glen Community Centre which looks... like an amazing venue! Parking right on the property and I don't see issues with safety. It's a beautiful building too. Depending on the date I'm in!- greyhorse

[Interest Check] Toronto Head-Fi Meet
Albert, I know it's a bit of work but can you find a suitable venue and post the details? I can't commit to anything, but I can still chip in for the room rental. I figured there would be a lot more interest it being AGES since our last meet, so hopefully everyone's still alive and kicking...- greyhorse

[Interest Check] Toronto Head-Fi Meet
Guys, Sorry for the lack of response on this. After SO long without a meet I really wanted to host this year and get the ball rolling again but work has been insane. I haven't had a weekend off this year and by the looks of it that's not going to change until... next year. Or maybe the year...- greyhorse

[Interest Check] Toronto Head-Fi Meet
So any preference for a rough date? I wanted to at least reach out to see about getting some quotations for room pricing. I'm assuming if I agreed to host and set some kind of date this thread would get more interest. If not there's no way the 3 or 4 us of are footing a $600 bill...- greyhorse

[Interest Check] Toronto Head-Fi Meet
Annual BUMP! Anyone else feel safer about having a meet? Please chime in on your thoughts. Yup COVID's still out there, but I get the sense that this is getting to be less of a consideration than it was last year. Just want to feel the room on this. Thanks!- greyhorse

[Interest Check] Toronto Head-Fi Meet
How is everyone doing? Just because these can take a while to setup I figured I'd start an IC thread and maybe we can have one once COVID settles down! What are everyone's thoughts? Too soon? Have one anyway and make everyone sign waivers? I'm personally kind of leery of being an organizer...- greyhorse

Sony CD3000 Thread
There used to be a Yahoo site in Japanese that went thru disassembly and repair, but sadly that's gone along with Yahoo. Taking it apart isn't that hard though - just take pictures of everything as you go. I have attached some pictures of what my lambskin repair looks like afterwards. The...- greyhorse

Audiophile meets in Toronto, Canada
alex5908, Although you might not know it, FallenAngel has contributed more to the Toronto head-fi meet scene than anyone I know. There are many types of meets out there, and if FallenAngel isn't interested in your style of meet, then you need to respect that. A quick search of the site will...- greyhorse

New Posts Toronto GTA Meet January 2017 with Cayin! Impressions,Reviews and Pics!
A big thank you to Paul for hosting this meet! Power bars for every table and custom name tags for everyone to boot. That couldn't have been cheap! The vegetable/dip combo was also a nice touch too. Turn-out was amazing which really took the meet over the top. I don't follow the forums...- greyhorse

Apheared 47 bypass cap
Wow, this one brings back memories... I remember making one without the GND buffer a long time back, and it sounded good. I basically used just the TLE2426, with 100uF bypasses. I personally haven't had much luck with the sound of GND buffers, and prefer a solid stack of capacitors instead...- greyhorse

GTA Spring 2016 meet
Albert, If you are planning on hosting, I'd suggest creating a new thread to gauge interest. Hopefully the planning phase won't turn into a 2 year affair, but if you can get a interest count going at least you'll know what your budget will be. FYI most people ended up paying $20 for the...- greyhorse

EHHA Rev A - Interest Thread
FallenAngel, Congrats on building up the EHHA. Overall your build looks ok, but please let me know the following: 1. Input impedance of your pot. I think I had a 100K Black Beauty in mine, but I seem to remember swapping it out with a 10K TDK conductive plastic unit after being...- greyhorse

Kicking off 2016 with a Toronto / GTA meet on Saturday January 30th
These generally happen whenever someone wants to host a meet. That being said, these used to be an annual thing at best, though FallenAngel has been gracious enough to host more frequently recently. If you want to see one happen sooner, the best way would be to host one yourself. It's not...- greyhorse

GTA meet 1/30/16
Hey, I'd rather Sony came out with a high-end 12MP APS-C mirror-less solution for us low-light shooters. Whether I end up going for the A6300 depends a lot on how much they improved performance in low light. The A6000 was very disappointing in this regard.- greyhorse
