I think I like the Ken Rads better with the MOs. The RCAs are much softer and have a little less top end so potentially missing a bit of detail in comparison. They are excellent all rounders, more on the warm side. The Bass is quite strong in the Ken Rads though. I think the "cheaper" versions...

Quite liking the KEN-RAD CKR 6SN7GT VT-231 Black Beauty tubes. Very clean with nice bass extension. They really were brand new looking NOS from the lovely (usually overpriced) eBay. MU2 has had 24hrs to burn in. It's enough for now lol...well until the Monaco Grand Prix in an hour. Happy Saturday!

I always leave it in stand by qhen bit in use. If its not glowing and no electricity is passing through I really doubt it will affect the lifespan of the tubes within. I only turn it off at the back to swap tubes.

It blew me away. I had MU1 + Bartok. It was really good. Lovely and meaty sounding. Plenty of detail. Tested MU1 with Dave as well. Amazing transients and seperation as Dave has. The MU1 shows you the beauty of your DAC but eliminated any annoying traits you might hear with some tracks like...

Haha no arrows from me and I love the Melz. They are still my most used tubes. Will finally get my Grimm MU2 on Friday. Been 4 weeks without my Envy in action! Can't wait to try out the Ked Rads and the Sylvania Tall bottles once I fire it up.

They are open back so yes they will leak sound. On the other hand if she makes a lot on noise you may hear that too. Should be OK if she's in a different room though I would have thought. Maybe get some closed backs for her and she wont hear a thing. 🙂

I may sell my Lavricables Grand XLR which is why I asked 🤔 Yes the Meze Silver Plated are good alternatives but can be a little tight on the headphone side. The one I had was. I think they have a coating on them (headphone side). No such issue with the Meze Copper though.

Best to use a dedicated mini-xlr cables on the headphone side IMO. What is the termination you need on the Amp side?

Impeccable timing thank you. I bought these last week and I was a little concerned about the missing plastic guide. I purchased some Woo 8-pin socket savers. My thought was the tubes could remain permanently placed within those. I have now ordered a set of these as well. Much appreciated.

I can add that the Grimm MU1 sounds wonderful with the Bartók clocking via AES.
