Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!
My goal is to end up with one headphone for the next 3-6 months. The Utopia was that for me for the last 6 months. So far it's between the DZ and Susvara. Both have pros and cons. For me, the Susvara is cheaper than the DZ, more comfortable, and of course legendary tuning. The DZ sounds like a...- tjkohli

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!
I have mentioned in more than one place (and my classified listings) that I sold my Utopia '22 today. Elite is going to be sold as well.- tjkohli

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!
V-shaped, or warm neutral. Sub bass, detail, clarity and sparkle all matter to me. Comfortable. This is really important. I’m personally ambivalent about soundstage. I wear these all day while working and I don’t necessarily need to feel like I’m in a concert hall vs in my office. In fact, a...- tjkohli

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!
I’ve gotten a few critics and some passive aggressive personal attacks in the last 24 hours, so I wanted to address them. I feel like a few of you guys don’t realize that people who review headphones don’t always keep the headphones they review. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. I also feel...- tjkohli

MR and DZ are nowhere near each other. The MR is in a much lower league IMHO. It definitely has a warmer tuning but the DZ does literally everything better.- tjkohli

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!
I rented a McLaren once. It was a great car. Just because I did not buy it doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s a great car. In this case, as mentioned in numerous other posts I’ve made, the DZ is amazing and I’m still listening to it as it breaks in. But at the same time, it is outside my max...- tjkohli

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!
Perhaps — they did not have good synergy with my Utopia so I sold the Ferrum stack for a TT2, which I love much more but alas, can barely power Susvara at full volume. — Coming back to the Diana DZ— I've been listening to it all morning and honestly, I am sitting on the fence and may not even...- tjkohli

IMHO that’s the biggest thing holding me back. The Susvara isn’t a $3,500 headphone. It’s a $10,000 headphone if you count the amp requirements.- tjkohli

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!
Correct. I sold the Utopia today because the DZ is better. The Elite will be put up for sale as soon as I take proper photos. I just listened to the DZ again and … it’s fantastic. The more I listen to it, the less I want to sell it. The only place I feel I can go from the DZ at this point is...- tjkohli

Thank you everyone for the warm praise! I am in a less-than-ideal financial situation and I also wanted to offer some more people the opportunity to try the DZ so I’m taking a bit of a hit and selling them. Let me know if interested. I’d be happy to work out a deal.- tjkohli

Thank you! The new comfort strap eliminates the discomfort “hot spot” on the top of your head that plagued older Diana’s. All that’s left is the slight discomfort of the clamping force. However that will probably get better as they break in.- tjkohli

Lol! As much as I’d like to keep them, I can not afford to keep them, which is my sad personal truth. In an ideal financial situation for me, I could afford to own both the DZ and Susvara because they would complement each other. Currently I can not afford either of them. Used Susvaras are...- tjkohli

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!
Got the Diana DZ. Listening now. Some initial, non-SQ observations/thoughts. The new headband design is infinitely more comfortable. The clamping force is slightly harder since the stiff headband seems otherwise identical to Diana MR/TC but the added comfort strap decreases the head space, so...- tjkohli

Focal Utopia General Discussion
I haven't heard the HD800S (yet) but I can confirm that, compared to Diana MR, Susvara, and even Meze Elite, the Utopia sounds closer to my ears than the others — I don't want to place an incorrect label on what I'm hearing but it sounds more like the Utopia shoves music into my ears while some...- tjkohli

Frankenstein headphone combinations
What’s your favorite/ideal Frankenstein headphone combo? For example, right now I wish I could have an open-back (or even closed-back) Meze Liric 2 but with Elite drivers. Portable but big sound. Another fun thing would be a Susvara but with a DCA folding headband/form factor.- tjkohli
