Does it make sense to be an audio purist?

I agree My hd600s lack on sub-bass a lot. So I EQ'd them and they're more vibrant now. The DT990s also had to be EQd to avoid the shouty highs

Does anyone EQ the sub-bass of the HD600?

In the past I didn't know what sub-bass even was so I assumed my HD600s were super dull. Now that I know what it is it still has that problem, but I just EQ'd the sub-bass and now I get more life out of them. The mid and high's, lush and smooth, with the intimate vocals. Now with sub-bass...

Why don't more people use EQ to get the desired sound?

I just EQ'd my HD600 again, and now they sound magical. I'll give it time to listen. However, I will say that it is better to get gear that matches your overall sound profile. That would be a good starting point, then you can EQ the little bits. I had to learn the hard way the former of what I...

Does it make sense to be an audio purist?

Personally, I am a purist because I buy the headphones with their sound signature. However, knowing that nothing is perfect in life, I also can see the perspective that it is impossible to be a purist because no headphone is gonna be 100% to your liking. So, does it make sense to be a purist...

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

I also have the momentum 4's and they do supply very good sub bass. And I do agree here. Some tracks give an oomph in the mid and higher bass and act as if it's sub bass

Listening to modern hip hop on my HD600s, and im fine with the lack of sub-bass apparently?

yeah. I already had the hd600 for a year and that's what i loved the most about it. mid-bass is still very punchy, just no sub-bass. i feel like its definitely a plus to have it, but it being missing on the hd600 isnt the end of the world, the other frequencies still made hip hop enjoyable even...

Listening to modern hip hop on my HD600s, and im fine with the lack of sub-bass apparently?

My momentum 4 provides enough juice for that definitely, those are my thoughts now a month or two after i made this post. mid bass and up, hd600 has it taken care of. it just doesn't rattle your head as i said before which i feel like is a fun feature that isn't needed in every music since my...

Listening to modern hip hop on my HD600s, and im fine with the lack of sub-bass apparently?

I will say, that is an interesting take. I feel like for EDM my Momentum 4 does it better (i already have it so yeah), but id say in general the HD600 handles EDM pretty well, *outside* the lack of sub bass. It just doesn't excel like bass heavy cans. Mid bass and up I feel like it's pretty well...

Is sub-bass a must in modern pop ahd hip hop tracks (with EDM elements)?

I'm looking at acquiring a dt990 pro as a sidegrsfe to my hd600. I'm kinda strapped for cash but I can make do with a dt990 EQ'd for the tracks I listened to. But for hip hop and pop is sub-bass crucial? Also does anyone use the hd600 for these tracks? I feel like the hd600s are satisfactory...

Falling in love, out, and back again: the HD600

The 660s2 has the most color in my opinion, maybe the newly released 620. But the hd600s turn any digitalized vocal and make them sound like a real person. No other headphone I tried has been able to recreate this

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

Hey, I've taken a break from constantly comparing my cans, and I've been starting to love them again! I made an appreciation post already but thought posting here would be good too: I got the HD600's approximately last year, and I loves these headphones at the store so I impulsively bought it...

Falling in love, out, and back again: the HD600

I got the HD600's approximately last year, and I loves these headphones at the store so I impulsively bought it. I've enjoyed sennheiser products, but recently I felt like I have lost my way.... I listen to a lot of rap, hip-hop, pop, electronic type music from modern times, so a lot of...

i just found out that the hd620s got released recently, and the graphs look very very promising. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/new-sennheiser-hd-620s-closed-back.972740/ i might take a look at acquiring this then. it may be the hd600s i actually want. lets see how they perform in the vocals...

Headphone recommendations under $300, preferably planar magnetics. Or if possible, ways to give an oomph to my HD600 sub-bass!

I usually preamp my headphones down so that the highest eq gain would equal the amount I pre-amp'd to. So I don't think I would clip my headphones

Nice, but how do I avoid distortion? When I EQ'd my bass I don't hear any clipping so yeah
