Hey all, I’ve been away from Head-fi scene for a while as I’ve been quite satisfied with my older equipment for the past decade; one of these is my Shure SE530 which are finally showing signs of going kaput any day now with their cable/stress relief issues. Therefore I’d like to get another...

    AKG K702 vs K701 comfort

In my personal experience that’s not the case at all; the newer K701/2 with flat headband is MILES more comfortable than the old torture bumps headband (many years ago, I had actually cut it off on my first pair). And I have a bald top! I currently have the newer K701 with flat headband and find...

    PX100-II Review | Discussion Thread

That's odd since even for on-ears I find the PX100/200 series to be one of the lesser clamping ones. If you can't get along with the amount of clamp for these I think it's likely that on-ears are just not for you, I can't think of any other decent mini on-ears that would be less clamping. Not...

    Sennheiser HD800S Unveiled!

I'd think they will still use the HD1000 name (kind of like how AKG reused the K340 name), the 1000 had the sub title "Charleston" and was limited production IIRC, they could just replace the subtitle with something else. I don't think many people nowadays remember of its existence anyway.

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread

I've bought these before, they are not the original AKG OEM pads, although they are pretty decent copies. They are angled regular foam pads like how they are on Q701's and used to be on the K702's, though they are bit softer and less dense than the original OEM pads. Definitely not the memory...

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread

I actually personally also found the new Annie/K712/K7XX memory foam pads a bit more uncomfortable than the standard spring foam angled pads. I think its partially due to harder density of the memory foam (it does conform to the shape of your face better but the contact on the face seems harder)...

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread

Wow, you're the first person I've seen that actually prefers the old bumpy versions lol... but then again, comfort is just completely subjective.   I have the K702 with the newer flat headband, which has no bumps yet still with the original width, so wider than the K7XX/Annies/K712...

    PX200 II thread.

I personally wish they got rid of the volume control altogether... or if they're going to implement one, at least make it much smaller. I found that on the normal version the volume control is way too chunky and actually weigh the headphones down a bit on the left side. Still think it's the...

    Sony MDR MA900 Impressions Thread

Thing is that this headphone also has built in impedance compensator; the driver coil itself I believe has impedance of 32 ohms. Without getting into all the technical details, the impedance compensator was put in there to lower the impedance peak so that the bass section won't be as affected...

    O2 AMP + ODAC

I'm quite confident in that case that your combo unit probably has the Epiphany's old default gain of 1x and 5x. I do know for sure that their change in default gain setting was a very, very recent thing, I'm quite sure it was still that was as late as March/April as I recall I was checking...

    O2 AMP + ODAC

Not sure what you mean by "Jitter", there's no consensus at all on what Jitter actually sounds like... I'm guessing you mean clipping.   If so, you may want to contact Epiphany and make sure if it really is their NEW version; if it is clipping at high gain then it's very possible that you...

    Q701 impressions thread

The K702 have complicated things lately as the latest versions Made in China now comes with the non-angled earpads (same old spring foam pads though and not the memory foam pads of the K7XX or K712's, so they now seem basically the same as the K612 pads), although I believe there are...

    Phonak Audeo (PFE) Thread

I've had both of them but I've gone the other way around, from 112's to the ER4's... The 112/122/132's have more sparkly and noticeable highs but I find the ER4's to be more thicker and detailed in the midrange and bass. PFE's are much more comfy obviously but ER4's are much better in isolation...

The AKG K712 Pro Support and Impressions Thread

Yes. The K701 and the Q701 earpads both feature earpads that are angled, thus noticeably more thicker at the back (Early K702's also had angled pads, although the latest Made in China ones seemingly don't). The foam on the angled pads is much harder as well and don't compress, preventing the...

    FiiO K5 || FiiO's docking desktop amp

Just my opinion, but I think the next edition should have some sort of dock cover for people NOT using it with a Fiio DAC. I know it's designed to be used together with another Fiio DAC, so I do understand including of the dock itself, but there are many, many people who used the E9/E09K without...

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread

I honestly did not put it through any extra stress other than regular daily wear, I guess if it matters at all I also do have a larger than average head.   I think all that plastic does is to prevent the headband from shifting laterally too much, thus that part breaking doesn't really...

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread

Actually that particular part has always been a problem in the K7** models, I've had that part broken in my past K701 units made in Austria. No getting around a thin piece of plastic being fragile, really.

    K701 thread

AKG seems to sometimes have production hiccup with this kind of thing once in a while, I remember there was a poster here couple years ago that had the L/R indicators reversed on the headband (L button on right side, visa versa).

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

The shirt clip works for me good enough as long as I am relatively stationary; there's nothing you can do about bone conduction while walking or running though IMO unless you can wear them around over your ears, and even then it's still there due to how deep it goes into your ear.... I still...

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

Yes. The driver unit and the body is exactly the same with all S/P/PT/B versions. Its only the impedance adapter at the Y-split that makes the difference. This allows them to match the L/R driver units more efficiently since the drivers are all the same and there isnt anything else to consider...

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

ER4 series cables are all detachable, it's just that they're very difficult to remove initially the first time. Cable wise technically any cable can be worn over ear, even the stock one for some people (though it doesn't work well for me at all), but the ones with L shaped connector body, which...

more relaxing headphone than HD600 - possible ?

Perhaps try the MA900. It's personally the most relaxing pair of headphones that I've ever had (its amazing comfort probably contributes to it also).

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

My guess would be maybe changing the physical design (using Dynamic drivers and putting in vents maybe?) at a cost of sacrificing a great deal of isolation, making it no longer useful in noisy environments like planes.

    O2 AMP + ODAC

Perfectly normal for pretty much all amps of this price range actually. This is an issue with all potentiators in general unless you go with amps with stepped attenuators, which have perfect volume matching throughout.

    AKG K702 Impressions.

I just modified the K701 plastic/foam stand to make it compatible with the K702:     Obviously, some foam on the bottom has to be cut out in order to make it compatible with a K702, which has a longer XLR plug than the strain relief of K701's standard non-removable cable. Once it's cut out...
