Did an initial impression and also faced the Apple Music issue. Will try the update maybe next few days see if it’s possible to play.

Yes, it would be recommended to run the latest firmware firmware to avoid such issue.

It works. Have updated FW. And then updated Apple Music. As was suggested by @Shanling previously. Works on both M9 and M9+ :)

I’ll give it a try soon. Then can get all my high res music on the player.

I can't remember what my M9+ sounds like! I sent it to Shanling for a battery replacement, but it's been stuck in Chinese customs for over a month. I half wonder if I'll ever see it again....

I updated the firmware and all is good. Now I am on Apple Music haha. Overall I quite like the player. It gives me the different flavour from my other player haha.

Shanling does have a wonderfully slightly warm and organic house sound which is very pleasing for a DS based DAC player. Ditto for the rest of their offerings like the M30 etc.

I think the AKM has a hand in it. The sound is actually quite similar to my experience using the DX300. The amplifier is also on the warmer side, mirroring those in the Enleum when I run it via line out.

Not all AKM implementation sounds as organic. Anyway, the DX300 uses 4 Cirrus Logic's flagship DAC chips - CS43198 QFC. I recall I was interested in giving it a listen precisely because it was not AKM. :)

Oh I mean DX300 max. Which is dual AKM4499eq.
