Great review! Can you verify if this indeed does not bypass the source like what was discussed in another thread here in Head-fi?

@ybbobserrot Works perfectly. Connected to my PreSonus Audiobox USB96 and the Smartphone outputs Hi-Res Audio as it should. So it works.

I tested with FiiO Music and Phonograph Plus. Works perfect with both

100+ Head-Fier
Pros: Fit is comfortable and relatively easy
Shell size is on the small-medium size
Fantastic Unboxing experience
Beautifully different design, it’s very distinctive
The included cable and carry case are very well-made
Bass is a step above others in it’s class
Bass texture, impact, and depth are all very satisfying
Mids are clean, clear, and open
Treble has great extension
The sound stage while not the widest, is definitely spacious
Resolution and detail retrieval are befitting of the price bracket
Cons: The reflective finish on the faceplate is incredibly scratch-prone
The nozzle/stem is on the shorter side, which may cause issues with some users
Pentacon connectors, your 2 pin cables are useless with this set!
Tuning is a bit on the safe side
I would like a little more treble zing after 10k (Subjective)
Dynamics are slightly lacking

New Head-Fier

Clean and impactful midbass
Both male and female vocals shine on this set
Good resolution and imaging
Beautiful translucent resin shell
Great stock cable
Great passive isolation
Cons: Power hungry - this IEM needs proper amplification to shine
Hard to get good seal with stock tips
Lackluster sub bass
MSRP is not competitive in 2024

Intro/Disclaimer

The AFUL MagicOne has garnered a lot of attention towards the end of 2023 but does this single BA set still compete in 2024? Read on to find out.

The MagicOne's single BA driver can be driven to physical clipping. In other words, the MagicOne is not an IEM to listen to at really high volume levels. What instead makes the MagicOne really special as a very relaxing or chill pill IEM is that the MagicOne has a relaxed BA sound for the bass and that the MagicOne adds a very nice ethereal nature to the sound of whatever music which you are listening to. I used to think of the Truthear Hola as a very relaxing "chill pill" IEM. Yet the MagicOne tops the Hola in this regard since the MagicOne is the first IEM which I actually fell asleep to while listening to it.

New Head-Fier
Pros: 1. The graphite colour I got for review is really nice, much better than black and white colour.

2. The ANC is on par with the Sony & Bose

3. They frequently go on sale for around $210-250

4. The overall sound is really good

5. They sound much much much better than the Sony and Bose

6. The monster battery life of 60 hours with ANC on!!

7. The app is very easy to use

8. Gives access to all the controls

9. Very comfortable to wear
Cons: 1. The headphones don't completely fold (although that does improve the reliability for longer usage)

2. The earpads touch my ears (more of a me issue, but still)

3. Soundstage lacking (Although those who like the in your head sound will love these)

Nice review but I would somewhat disagree on your soundstage assessment. For a closed back it seems very wide to me. I listen to some Dolby remixes and it really shines but even with a good stereo recording to m4 does have a decent width to it.

Hello, thanks for the kind words. 🙂 I really appreciate it

Yeah I sort of agree on the soundstage, one thing I forgot to mention is that I dont use much headphones at all. This is like my only 4th headphone personally using it. 😅

So I don't really have a good gauge on what's a good soundstage for closed back headphone. I guess i compared them to similarly priced iems here.

Sorry for the confusion.

-lacks in micro and macro details because of its warmer tuning

500+ Head-Fier
Pros: -Design (yes, I know we’ve seen this before, still a cool design)

-Tuning Switches that work

-Boisterous and energetic macro-dynamics

-Bass ranges very far with switches

-Snappy, punchy or even heavy and robust low-end depending on switches

-Airy midrange, detailed, very resolute for the price

-Transients are tight throughout the midrange

-Lively treble region with good extension

-Very open sounding treble region as well

-A nicely detailed playback

-Separation
Cons: -Same old design

-Those that hate switches

-Thinner note weight

-May come across fatiguing for some

-Some BA timbre shows up from time to time

-Warm/dark lovers will want to keep looking

-Slight sibilance in some settings

Ceeluh7

500+ Head-Fier
Pros: -Build Quality is always great with Hidizs devices

-The design is one of the sickest in the market (my opinion)

-One of the best sample light indicators, dope looking.

-Lightweight (17 grams), won’t kill your usb-c port

-Six working filters (subtle changes)

-Very low battery drain

-Very low noise, black background

-Tactile physical buttons

-Clean sound, neutral presentation

-Low-end punch with good definition

-Slightly forward and smooth mids

-Treble is non-offensive

-Technicalities are nice for the price

-Nice stage size
Cons: -Older and widely used dac chips

-Needs burn-in (just my opinion, settle down)

-No gain switch on device

-An app would be nice

-Driving power isn’t quite up to the price point standard

-Front & back panel is a fingerprint magnet (not really a con)

-Some may want a bit more treble extension and emphasis (I don’t mind it)

- Very good bass level, even better treble level, quite extended.
- Descriptive and informative sound.
- Macro detail evident.
- Remarkable separation, clarity and transparency.
- High level of construction and very good finish.
- Good ergonomics and fit.
- Appreciable case.
Cons: Despite the level of resolution, micro detail is not the best.
- Thin lower mids without much body or physicality.
- Upper mids can become too energetic.
- The cable is not very good.
- Only one set of tips.

Looking at your pictures, I realized I absolutely adore everything about this set... except the tuning (it's not an all-rounder). I mean, in comparison, the Monarch Mk III is so disappointing in terms of its presentation, and it costs how much, I'm sorry? ... I guess this one really pushes my buttons, it's so tasteful. Good job, @HiByMusic and FAudio, nonetheless, this one's a beauty. Despite it not being my cup of tea tuning-wise, I'm happy that such tuning experiments still exist, it shows that people have still have original ideas and not everything is done purely for guaranteed profit.
