I probably have 200 hrs on my WA22 now. The hum I reported pages ago is nearly gone. It’s of course impossible to know what changed, but some aspect of burn-in seems to have corrected it. Tubes, transformers, who knows.

As an aside, I have been re-listening to my favorite music upsampled to DSD256 in Roon played via my Qutest. Not HQplayer…just Roon over my Nucleus. Holy smokes that sounds fantasic.

I am only left to wonder what a fully balanced DAC feeding the WA22 would add, if anything detectable. I get changing the DAC substantially changes the chain but, Cyan 2 I see you.

I noticed hum on my WA-22 a week ago especially when using sensitive headphones. It was a constant hum regardless what volume I put. It doesn't bother me when I listen to music, just in between tracks or when no music was playing. Eventually I found out it was caused by my GEC 6as7g tubes. Once swap them out, the hum was gone

It's worth to swap Psvane Acme 274b to Elrog 274b/5UG4?
buy ER274B used? no rectifier production planned @elrog as of last week when I asked Mr. Meyer....

I'm running a W4S DAC 1 with balanced and RCA outs. I can't hear any difference between the two. However, I do run balanced because of common mode rejection.

Have any of you owners used your WA22 as a preamp? I'm trying it for the first time today and listening right now as I type this. Not sure what difference I should be hearing, but perhaps it's a tad more present/resonant in the bass & sub-bass? If there is anything additional there, I think it's slight. Curious on your experiences with the WA22 as a pre?

I tried my WA22 as a pre to my Burson Soloist 3xGT. I heard nothing that sounded “better” to my preferences as compared to the Soloist on its own. As such, I removed it figuring less in the signal path was a better set-up all else equal. Incidentally, the Burson already has a terrific volume control and preamp stage. I did not not hear the WA22 imparting a noticeable “tubey” character.

So….I keep both units separate for separate listening occasions. Very happy with that.

I use my WA-22 to feed my speaker amp. It's amazing. It definitely offered some tube flavor vs solid state.

The only hum I have encountered has always been tube related so far in my WA22. Dead silent with good tubes. The Chord Dave pairs very well with it too. I am very tempted to get a Mjolnir 3 just as an additional flavor for my system but every time I plug in the Woo I think it doesn’t get better than this!

Question: Single ended vs. XLR input.

I've got both outputs from my DAC into the WA22. When I toggle between SE and XLR, I cannot hear any difference. Not even a perceptible change in volume. *Maybe* the slightest of slightest increase in volume on XLR, but it might be a placebo effect. Sound quality seems identical. Do you guys notice any difference?
