Schiit Vali 3 : Impressions Thread

Slight topic shift...got my Vali 3 to replace the Vali 2++ which sits atop a pile of schiit - MB 2 and Loki. All are in silver finish. The new Vali 3 arrived in a somewhat dull brushed aluminium finish. The other components including the Vali 2++ are a brighter shinier, smoother finish.

Anybody else slightly niggled by this subtle but clear change in finish ?

Doesn't look bad. Just doesn't match the other components that it sits very close to.

No longer bothers me. All my Schiit is silver, and I likely got over that bit of OCD-ness by buying a bunch of B-stock that never seemed to match any of the rest. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Looks like you have enough tubes to last, oh I don’t know maybe 6,250 years?
Lol! On the plus side, if I use all those up I can switch to octals. 🤣

So how do you find the V3 compares to yer old V2?
It's a pretty significant improvement to my ears. My Vali 2 is an OG, so there may have been some improvements in the 2+ and 2++ I missed out on, but the Vali 3 is definitely a nice upgrade for me.

Just got these tubes the other day, the 6N3P-DR Russian tubes. This one is from 1978 and sounds more "full bodied" and has more presence to my ears compared to the stock 6N3P tube that came with my Vali 3. I can especially feel it in the bass department (guitars, drums, etc.). Going on 4 hours and am very happy with it so far, I am sure it will keep maturing to bring out its best as time marches on.

Hi guys, just got my valli 3 a weak ago and I'm pleased with it. I want to start experimenting with some other tubes.
Any suggestions for some warm, lush, low end focused tubes for the valli 3?
Welcome to the Vali 3 club! Compared to the stock tube, the 63NP-DR has a sound approaching what you are looking for. I am still in the process of letting mine "mature" (~7 hours atm) but it immediately made a difference in the warmer, low end focus with more presence overall. There are a few reputable sellers on eBay selling them atm. Of course, that was just the tip of the ice berg in my future tube collection...so many more to try. Hope this helps! :beerchug:
