You might ask the dealer who loaned them to you if he had any idea of how much playtime they might have on them. My experience had both the RS1x and former TOTL PS2000e as needing way more break in time than any of my other Grados. Essentially both of those models did not fully evolve until you were hitting 300 hours as compared with the usual minimum 50 to 100 hours to get you into the land of happy sound. This has been the experience of several other well regarded Grado collectors and fans. For me the RS1x sounded a bit slender in the bass and a bit sharp on top occasionally. That is all gone now and it is very nice in it’s balance and has become very popular.They look gorgeous though.
Enjoy the ride but the best might be yet to come. When you’re not listening to them you might just let them play some full range music on repeat while you still have them on loan.
