HEDD Announces HEDDphone With AMT Technology

I never felt Heddphone Two provide small soundstage. It's quite airy and wide actually. Yeah not as "open" sounding as Hifiman HE1000 series, but that one is specialist for airy character. Something like Audeze MM500 is at small soundstage type of sound.

Hedd Two is quite transparent to set up and recording, so to check the soundstage size, better to use excellent recording like Stockfisch songs.

I was mainly comparing with the Monoprice AMT.

Hi to everyone. I`m purchase Heddphones, and now me need amplifier for him.
Appreciate bass, macrodynamic (explosive) and scene (holographic). Various version of beta22 i`m read - very good for Heddphones. Any idea about this?

For the price Aune S17 is hard to beat. I also quite like the synergy Heddphone Two with Cayin HA-2A.

I love my RME ADIPRO2
you’ll need a special adapter for the high power output but it’s a sleeper and worth every penny

Thanks. I just wanted to clarify - have you listened to the Beta22 compared to your favorite amps? Preferably 4-channel.

I prefer my OTL amp to the Topping A90D when using the HEDDphone. There is no output impedance issues when using the OTL amp so the headphone sound is altered only by the tubes used.

If you were at the World of Headphones Heidelberg show, then it was probably me.

I want to agree, but I also have to stay open-minded. There are different ways of sounding neutral. You can have neutral-measuring speakers, but you will never listen to them in a neutral space. So even if you use very direct-sounding near-fields (which most professionals do), there will be variations and some room for error/preference. The variation gets immensely bigger in home/personal/consumer audio.
If you want to get rid of every influence of the room in a headphone, you would be ending up with a very bright sound that nobody would agree with as natural-sounding, as that‘s not how we experience it at home, in a studio or on a concert.

Now assuming you have perfectly recorded tracks, mix them just right, and then pass the final mix on to two different mastering engineers, for sure both masters will sound different. Would it be possible to say one master sounds more neutral over the other? Even when using speakers? The variables are too many. It‘s not always possible to say which is more „neutral“ or how exactly it was intended to sound like. We have to use our experience to make estimations to narrow it down. (Or, in our case, we have close contact to producers, mixing and mastering engineers and can take their feedback.)

Having that said, the HEDDphone TWO tries to remove every form of coloration and thus also sounds more direct than the previous version. It is even closer to the experience of working on near-field monitors. This does help to pick up more details and I think the HP2 is one of the highest-resolution headphones yet, which makes it extremely easy to hear doubled vocals, reverb, auto-tune and every „mess“ that is happening during production, mixing and mastering. More so than the HEDDphone ONE. On a good master, you can hear even better details, small cues and artistic choices. Yet I can also understand if people say the tuning of the first version is closer to their preference.
Thus, it is the experience gained that allows to determine the neutrality (naturalness) of certain headphones. Neutral-sounding headphones are the subject of search for both audiophiles and professionals, but since most headphones are produced with colored sound, the subject of search for neutral (natural)-sounding among headphones remains relevant.

I can wholeheartedly recommend the Sparkos Labs Aries. It's a sophisticated discrete op-amp design with a really good power supply, about 3w into 35 ohms. In my system with Denafrips Terminator II DAC it has awesome resolution, transparency, holographic imaging, bass solidity and dynamics. No sign of running out of power a high levels with the HEDD2 and AMT. A bit expensive at $2500.

This was a really fun experience, a bit of behind the scenes with some of the key figures in the creation of the Air Motion Transformer! Thank you very much HEDD!

I have to admit that watching this made me even more interested in auditioning their V2.
V1 made me interested enough to almost buy it.But the discomfort and some issues with its SQ "saved me" .
But PLEASE ,PLEASE GoldenSound, why on earth are you adding this EXTREMELY ANNOYING BACKGROUND Shopping mall MUZAK to your videos??
WHY WHY? What's wrong with you kids ?Are you ALL completely unable to focus on one thing at a time ? Do you always have to have music running in the background?
Isn't it enough that one has to SUFFER such crap in Shopping Malls ? When I listen to music I do that and nothing else and with my full attention on the music .
Why did you have to ruin an otherwise interesting video with all that added background noise?
Cheers CC

Wow someone needs a nap.

I thought the video was very well edited. The most interesting tidbit is how HEDD Audio says they want to transition to being more of a highend headphone company in the near future. That's quite the transition, and it will be VERY interesting to see what a full line-up of AMT headphones at different price points looks like.

41 ohm HEDD on an OTL? OK if you say so. Which OTL amp? My HE-500 (38 ohms) and HE-6 SE (50 ohms) sound comically bad on my BHCs.

Doesn't seem to apply to AMT driver. Can vary with different headphone designs (dynamic, planar etc). I find the LCD-X similar with not much variation through my 30 ohm output OTL amp.
