  Nice top 30

I'd add Kyle Bobby Dunn and the Infinite Sadness to that list though. Amazing ambient classical.

Thanks, I put the most work into that top 30. Really sat down and tried to parse out what moved me the most this year. After the first 100 or so I just kinda started rambling lol. Thanks for the rec --- I'll check that out now!

Music is subjective, I guess. A lot of good records on there but I would have definitely included:

Spoon - They Want My Soul
TV on the Radio - Seeds
The War on Drugs - Lost In The Dream
Sylvan Esso - Sylvan Esso (as much electronic music as you have, I'm really really surprised this wasn't listed - H.S.K.T. may be one of my favorite tracks)
Mary J Blige - The London Sessions

^My consolidated Spotify playlist of my favorites of 2014.

Thanks for the hard work though @MuppetFace - looks like I have some more listening to do!

Yeah, I missed some really good ones! Haven't really had enough time to even digest the new TV On the Radio. It's been a crazy year in music for me. Usually never have the drive to post more than 50 to 100 albums here.

Here's a dirty secret: I've never been a big Spoon fan. Whoops. :x But I still enjoyed their latest a lot!

I'd recommend checking out Jean Grae's #5 EP if you haven't. It kinda got lost at the bottom of my list, but it's some great female R&B.

you should also check the new album by The Future Sound Of London - Environments 5 , great stuff from one of the best electronica bands of the last 25 years

I've been meaning to have a listen, as I love TFSoL. Thanks for reminding me. :')

How so?

I hope that was a paying download  I still have not managed to get engaged by that album.

I'm regularly underwhelmed by hyped up records so nowadays I approach them with no preconceptions. Sometimes you can try too hard to 'get' an album when you read nothing but universal acclaim. Spirit Of Eden by Talk Talk is a prime example of this. I never got it and I never will.

Or maybe it's just not your cup of tea.

Oh I just don't find much (Or any) of the music that they're posting here to be enjoyable (And yes, I have listened to it)

No big deal, we all have different tastes in music, others disagree as well with the lists on this thread. But if you have a list to post, I'm sure some of us would be interested, even if it's not to everyone's taste.

Like headphone/earphone gear, we all hear differently, same with music.

By all means, feel free to post your list of things you enjoyed this year. I enjoy seeing other peoples' contributions.

It's my fault for not labeling things well in the first place. I'm projecting my love of exploring stuff here; not everyone likes picking random stuff from a big list to check out, even if I do. That's fine.

But for the record, my list includes: rock, indie/alt, punk, metal, jazz, eastern and western folk, electronica, hip hop, field recordings, ambient, classical, and various other subgenres. If anyone likes any one of those genres in particular, let me know and I can point you in the right direction on the list.

Now, if you're the sort of person who thinks there's no good music being made anymore, unfortunately there's nothing I can do for you. However I will be posting more about my favorites from years and decades past this year.

The one album that HAS to be listed by someone is here is RX Bandits - Gemini, Her Majesty
It's one thing to be a good album, but this one has something for almost everyone. It progressive ska punk reggae rock, and it's awesome!

All my picks are rock, punk, metal (except one)
 Sleepwave  - Broken Compass
 Lagwagon   - Hang
 Finch      - Back to Oblivion
Linkin Park - The Hunting Party
Rise Against - The Black Market
 Adelitas Way - Stuck
Chiodos   -     Devil
Mastodon     -   Once More 'Round the Sun
The Used      -  Imaginary Enemy
Elk Road     -   Waiting for Your Waves to Pass EP (This one is electronic, like dub-step, remix or something; i'm not good with electronic genres so i don't really know, it's just good)
Nothing More  -  Nothing More
We Are Scientists  -  TV en francais
Jack White     -   Lazaretto

LOL, wut?  Progressive ska punk reggae rock?  That's a genre I'm not familiar with, but the description was good enough to get me to click the link, so kudos.  Listening now, and even though it's not my usual cup o' tea I can't dismiss it.  Still listening after 4 tracks, so...

I recommend everyone who reads this thread check out the album Deliverance by Culprate. It is simply amazing and easily the best album of 2014 for me.
