So the reason Qobuz windows app wont work is Qobuz still hasn't released Qobuz connect. However you can use qobuz through other apps such as Audirvana which does have this feature and you can run, use and stream qobuz (as well as other streaming services) through that, which Im now doing and works well

I have an EF600 right now along with a Singzer SA-1 and Schiit Midgard. Guess I'm trying to find my "end game" solid state amp. Would the EF499 or 500 be any sort of downgrade from the EF600?

EF499 would definitely be a downgrade. I’m less sure of the differences between 500 and 600

Could you explain a bit why you'd want to get EF499 or EF500? As in what did you not like about EF600?

Also from previous comments in this thread, sounds like if you're running dac only then EF400 and EF500 are practically the same (difference is EF500 has better internal amp), not sure about EF600 though.

It was a fine pairing. I didn't notice a difference in sound compared with my Bifrost 2 though.

I just got the EF500 today.

It seems to have the same channel imbalance issue with the volume wheel that was documented by users of the EF400. Apparently, it balances out around the 8 o'clock point, but it gets too loud for my ears before I reach the 8 o'clock point, and so I have to lower the source volume (my phone) by a couple button presses. Does this degrade the sound quality?

I'm using the HE1000SE and some IEMs.

I just got the ef499 myself and I don't have this problem with iems or anything else for that matter. I'm assuming you're using low gain? I can say it is pretty loud with my iems even barely turned to 7:30. Perhaps it's a problem with the Himalaya ladder couldn't say. But with the ef499 I have no problems (Phillips r2r dac)

Ah, I see, yes, I'm on low gain. From what I understand, an R2R volume wheel is supposed to get rid of channel imbalance. But I'm not sure if this is an R2R volume wheel on the EF500. The Topping L70 has an R2R volume wheel, and it makes clicking noises, and with each click, the volume goes up in small increments. The volume wheel for the EF500 just turns smoothly, and it gets loud really fast. I wish the channel imbalance would resolve before it got too loud for my ears.
