iFi audio GO pod + IEMs = brilliant wireless sound on the GO!

The issues reported although similar sounding in nature can have very different solutions, signal, connection, device, and even IEM connection have reported issues on occasion across al of the brands you mentioned.

That is why we are all here to share things we have found that may cause these oddities. As an example I have worn mine every few days, mostly inside, I live in a rural area, so there is not a ton of signal interference around me, and I have not had any dropouts, but that's only my use case, and may not be indicative of yours.

Of course, we wish that no one experienced any issues, and all was perfect, but that's not reality.

I continue to encourage anyone having ongoing issues to please report them to our support so we may learn if there are any commonalities.

Cheers!!
Thank you for the detail reply. Once I receive them I’ll text and see if there’s any issues. I do agree that the issues some people face may not be indicative of all users. Just an example I saw many people report issues with FIios and I never had issues. So I hope it’s the same case with these.

The "dropouts", and by this I mean one of the Pods to stop playing while the other one plays fine, and my smartphone is very near to me, so the "dropouts" have happened to me very rarely, like once per 3 weeks or so, and I use my GO Pod every day for at least 4 - 5 hours. This is why I have not opened a ticket, yet.

Those users who encounter this more often, ought to open a ticket as they are helping everyone: themselves, iFi Audio to discover what's wrong and the rest of us to avoid encountering this in the future.
Well... my time has now come, I suppose...

For like a week now I am having constant drop-outs. A few minutes after wearing my Pods, one of them, some times the left, other times the right Pod, stops playing music. The other Pod keeps playing fine. Some times pausing and restarting the music works, other times I have to put both back inside their case and wear them again for both to work. Same smartphone, same music sources, same household, same habits. Nothing's changed. I've also done a factory reset but it didn't fix the issue.

I've opened a ticket tonight.

Sort of what I started experiencing over time. Music would stop. Have to start. One ear would stop. would have to disconnect bluetooth and reconnect.

So far, a factory reset seems to have improved the situation. What's odd is the iem's (Empire Ear Valkyrie) even sound a bit different and should really not have much to do with that. But, they are much more solid than they have been the past few months.

A reset was a positve move for me.

@Nick24JJ and @RickInHouston. The issues you are both facing sound very similar to what I faced when my Go Pods were giving me problems with dropouts a few months back. The situation definitely improved when support sent me a new set of connectors. Around about the same time I was also advised to reduce the settings on the touch controls, and ever since then I would say drop outs for me are pretty much non existant. I get the odd one every so often but put that down to just circumstance. Not saying this is the golden ticket to fix your problems but certainly worked for me.
Hope you get it sorted soon.

Thank you, guys! :)

While waiting to hear from iFi Audio customer service, does anyone know what the Bit Perfect filter does and how does it work?

In the GAIA App, under Filter Config, there is a setting called Bit Perfect. How does this work? Is it better / preferable than the other filters?

I have opened another ticket, product inquiry, so we'll have an official response this week, hopefully.

The Bit perfect filter is defined here as...

Bit-Perfect' No digital filtering is applied, one tap

Hope that helps!

Cheers!!

Thanks, I appreciate your support however it does not explain much. No worries, I've opened a ticket so I'll wait to see what the official support will have to say.

You're welcome, I understand it's just the basics of the filter, that one effectively imparts nothing added to the original signal, in terms of listening impressions I wouldn't go there anyway, there are many here who can better describe tonal differences in filters, and then some say they hear no difference between them...:L3000:

Best to form your own opinions on which filter you prefer, I prefer the GTO filter in iFi gear, but I wouldn't tell anyone it's better or worse than what they hear.

Cheers!!

Which one is the GTO filter? In the GAIA App, I can see the following:

- Fast or Slow Roll-off
- Minimum or Linear Phase

Then it has Bit Perfect which, when enabled, disables the above.

Asking just out of curiosity cause you mentioned that GTO filter.

I mentioned it as a favorite of mine, but as of yet (I don't know if it will come) is not on the GO Pods, it is in Zen DAC, GO Blue, Kensei, and up to the Pro iDSD series.

It's GTO (Gibbs Transient Optimized) and to me provides a "fuller" sound than some other filters I have heard.

More Here!

Cheers!!

Going back to the drop outs. I said upstream that they had pretty much stopped happening for me, but they came back with a vengeance last night when I was on a 30 min walk. Drop outs occurring at least once a minute so that's quite a lot in 30 mins! Got back and checked Bluetooth battery status on the phone, showed 80% so you'd reckon that should be fine. Fired up the Gaia app but strangely it only showed the status of the right hand pod which was 79%. Charged both pods overnight and checked status of pods on Gaia this morning. Both left and right showed 100%. Went for a 30 min walk and no drop outs. So could it be that drop outs occur if one of the pods has a significantly higher charge than the other? I have a vague recollection of reading that one pod is the "master" and controls the other (or words to that effect), so could it be that the reason I was getting drop outs was that the left hand pod wasn't charging properly (maybe not seated correctly) and the right hand pod was doing all the "heavy lifting", and this was only rectified by the left hand pod getting a proper charge again.
Bottom line, if you are experiencing drop outs it might be worth checking on Gaia that both of the pods are showing battery status rather than just one.

Great observation, I will mention this to the tech folks and see if there is any response.
