iFi ZEN DAC Signature V2 Impressions
Jul 26, 2022 at 5:56 AM Post #16 of 43
HI, I currently use the Zen DAC in my system with A30 Pro. I recently got the Allo Shanti LPS and really like the improvement is sound quality. I've been thinking about upgrading to the Zen DAC Signature, what improvements can I expect?

I think a part of the reason Zen DAC Signature might sound better than regular Zen DAC is the inclusion of iPower adapter, but since I already have a good clean PS, I don't know if upgrading to the Signature would be a worth while investment. There's also mention of an upgraded clock for jitter management in the Signature, will I get similar improvement if I use iPurifier3 on my Zen DAC? I don't care about the upgraded XMOS chip, as I don't use MQA.

I just found this. He talks about it in the middle of the video

I think ipower x supply helps with sound. I noticed it when upgrading the Diablo with it

I saw the video before, don't remember there being comparision of Zen DAC & Zen DAC Signature, only the Zen One Signature and Zen DAC Signature. I'll watch it again and see if I missed it.

I see you have the iPurifier3, notice any benefit?

I had both the regular Zen-Dac and the Signature-Zen-Dac for a month. the Signature definitely sounds better. It's more detailed and clearer. I still use the Signature version today. For me the power supply makes no difference, the Signature is just a better sounding Dac.

That's want I was hoping for. I had the micro iDSD Signature and compared to that, the Zen DAC was less detailed, narrow and sounded a bit congested. I was hoping to get closer to the micro iDSD sound quality with Zen DAC Signature.

Which power supply were you using? I remember trying the regular iPower and a phone charger without any improvement in sound. With the Allo Shanti the change was immediately noticeable.

Would this work with Sundara's, HD6XX's and AKG K702's?
Its not that powerfull to fully justify Sundara, but it will give you a glare atleast

I'm going to use it with an amp so I don't think that would be an issue. But I would like to know if it's compatible with my headphones.
I had the zen dac and zen can both V1. I had to use atleast two gain steps, and this didnt make them sound good, but loud. It did sound really good on comfortable/Low listening level.

Yep, although Sundara can go really loud with our ZEN CAN, these are demanding cans (94dB sensitivity)!

Hello there,

Would anyone be willing to offer me some advice? I can't find an answer to this anywhere. I have just bought this lovely DAC and i am going to use it with the 5v charger that is included. I am using my galaxy z fold 3 as the digital source.

I have bought the following USB C to USB B cable:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cable-Matt...c+to+to+usb+b+3.0+cable+matters,aps,91&sr=8-1

This cable works fine connected directly from my z fold 3 to the Signature V2 but there is no USB OTG cable in between. Could you please advise on whether it is ok to use this type of cable?

Z Fold 3 ---> USB C to USB B Cable -----------------------------------------------> Zen DAC Signature V2

Or, would you recommend buying a USB OTG cable and using a USB B to USB A cable to go from the USB OTG cable to the Signature V2?

Z Fold 3 ------> USB OTG -> USB A to USB B Cable ------------------------------> Zen DAC Signature V2

Thank you so much for any advice :)
