You could buy a new battery for your SP1000 online (for example on AliExpress - the link and screenshot below) and replace your battery with these two simple (and cheap) tools. In this Youtube video (below) is shown step-by-step how to open SP1000 and remove a battery in 5 minutes. The video is not in English (it is in Russian) but to follow the steps you don't really need to hear what they say.

Does anybody know where I can buy (order) a new back plate for my SP1000? (the glass panel on the back of SP1000 that is shown in the picture below )? because it is broken on my player and I don't really like to ship it anywhere just to put a new back plate on it.

It is not my fault. I feel backplate almost self crack, was a design flaw

My SP1000M now has a new battery. I did have to send to Korea but the process wasn't too bad. My first email inquiry was on 4/19/24 and after a few back and forth emails, I sent it off on 5/1/24. It was returned on 5/28/24. Total cost was $91. The hardest part was payment which had to be done by bank transfer only and cost an additional $12.59. So $102.59 all in, including shipping both ways.

All in all, I'm glad to have it back and hope to get a few more years service.

Support for European customers is provided by DM Solution, based in Germany. Contact via dm@astellkernservice.de. They're quite responsive and helpful. In my case asked permission from AK hq for me to make the battery switch myself, received approval, sent me the battery and a detailed instruction on how to make the switch.
