Our developers have been working long and hard on this and this update should answer many users' concerns :)
The following changes and improvements were made to firmware version 1.5 compared to 1.3/1.4:
1. Pressing the Back button from the Now Playing screen will now always take you to the folder / album / etc. from which the current song is selected. This is true even after navigating to the main menu or powering the X1 off and back on;
2. Added Russian and Thai language UI support;
3. Removed the 5800 song limit of the media library;
4. Enabled gapless playback of single music files split by CUE sheets;
5. Fixed issue where CUE sheets containing tracks of identical titles could not be parsed properly;
6. Fixed issue where the genre tag of AAC files (.m4a) was read incorrectly;
7. Fixed issue where the X1 would not skip automatically through files of unsupported format if a whole series of such files are encountered in a row;
8. Fixed issue where blanks spaces in front of the album name of a song caused the genre name to be read incorrectly
9. Miscellaneous Chinese UI bugfix.

X1 firmware version 1.4 (internal release)
Compatibility update for different internal RAM/ROM chip provider in newer batches of X1
Download link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qu44l2klqg2jag2/X1-FW1.4.zip?dl=0

Old firmware may not be compatible with newer X1's as the internal RAM/ROM chip provider was changed in newer batches of X1. The first firmware version that supports these newer X1's is version 1.4. If your X1 is one of these newer units, flashing firmware older than 1.4 will cause your player to become inoperational.

If this happens, you can still flash back to version 1.4 or later via the normal firmware update means.

X1 firmware version 1.3 (2015-03)
Consolidated improvements in beta versions 1.21 and 1.22 into stable release.

3. Added option to delete a whole folder.
4. Added support for ExFAT card format (firmware updates still need to be performed using a FAT32-formatted card)
5. Non-music files generated when a card is accessed by an Apple / Linux computer are now hidden and do not affect browsing.
6. Fixed issue where some songs are shown with incorrect Genre on the X1.
7. Fixed known issue in 1.21 where the player would hang if the Shortcuts key was pressed while adjusting a named EQ preset other than Custom. (Now brings up dialog for reseting the preset as intended)

The following changes and improvements were made to firmware 0.21 compared to 0.17:

2. Fixed issue that may cause the player to hang during playback under other conditions (requiring reset)
3. Fixed issue where micro SD cards may be detected improperly, in that when inserting cards after powering up the X1, sometimes the status bar would indicate that no card is inserted while the card can be read (for browsing files and playing music etc.) while at other times the status bar would indicate that a card is inserted but the card cannot be read.
4. Fixed issue where some units exhibited oscillation when switching between songs of sample rates 44.1kHz and 48kHz.
5. Fixed issue where tracks in wma format had higher probability of causing hangs during playback and media library update.
6. The idle poweroff time now ranges from 1 to 8 minutes and defaults to 5 minutes.

X1 firmware version 0.17alpha (2014-08-26)
The following changes and improvements were made to firmware 0.17 compared to 0.16:

1. Added quick start guide for reference within X1.
2. Fixed some translation issues for various languages.
3. Fixed issue where the X1 would keep showing the paused screen when made to resume playback after reaching the end of a folder / album under certain conditions.
4. Fixed issue where some units would not enter idle power-off correctly after playback is paused while charging.
5. Minor correction to power-off animation while X1 is plugged in, fully charged.
Known issue (also applies to 0.16):

I will install tonight as well.

I liked the removal of the 5800 limit, as well as the improved behavior of the back button.

To be honest, I still would like to see in the future:

1) Use back/prev buttons to scroll "pages" in any list (coarse grain navigation, multiple items at a time) and keep the scroll wheel as is (for fine grain navigation)

2) Make the volume buttons always work as volume buttons. Please remove that stupid behavior of changing tracks with the volume buttons. There is already the next/prev buttons for this purpose.

Thank you and please continue improving the firmware. X1 is a great player that just needs some small firmware tweaks to become an excellent player!

I hear ya regarding (1)... regarding (2), we have decided not to let any button be held down to change the volume when the player is locked because of safety concerns. So nope :tongue_smile:

Regarding (1), thank you!

Regarding (2)... TBH, this does not make any sense. Just see all smartphones and other DMPs (I myself have other DMPs), all of them allow using volume rockers while locked. At least PLEASE PLEASE make this configurable in your firmware!

Press to change by one increment, yes, held down for continuous change, no. At least not my smartphone :tongue_smile:

Having my eyes on the x1 for a while now. I guess its time to hit the bullet. I love Fiio's dedication to their craft. And the compatiblilty with the upcoming k5 is just pretty darn cool.

I have downloaded and installed the update. My X1 now shows 8134 files in the directory. However, the folder on my computer from which I copied all the files shows 10,777 files in my player folder. Both the X1 and Player show 45.7 GB of space required.

Is there something I need to do to see the other 2,643 files?

  Are we finally allowed to move icons around now? :D

Nope :frowning2:

Do you know if the missing files are even music files (files that the X1 can detect)? Maybe they're just album artwork images or something else.

Er, run a new media library update after the firmware update? :p

Looks like some could be album art. A detail search shows 3970 wma files and 4580 mp3. That totals to 8550 sound files. Is there any reason why 416 of those files wouldn't be counted? Maybe I'll clear the X1 completely and recopy everything and see what happens.

And yes, I did do a media update. Twice.
