It is quiet helpful to come across this thread though it looks pretty much inactive now. I am considering to try the EX800ST just because I am a Sony fan boy and I like anything Japanese lol can’t help it. If some of the owners, previous owners comes across this, would you consider 800ST warm/dark or bright/neutral? I generally listen to poorly mastered metal music so my target is warm/dark sound but I understand a lot of Japanese gear are tuned towards bright signature. I can tolerate some treble as long as it’s not shouty or sibilant. I am aware the EX1000 is brighter than 800 hence I didn’t even consider those. I do own the XBA N3 and that’s treble is sweet imo, never harsh so how are these when it comes to upper mid range and treble in general?
