Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Port Ellen? My funny Scotch story: the bottle portrayed below was sitting on a high shelf in a ratty store in Scotland, pretty much abandoned and getting moisture stains as far as I can tell. The Port Ellen distillery in Islay closed in 1983, and did not reopen except for brief special productions recently. I had another Port Ellen bottle that went a long time ago, before I realized how rare the stuff was.

I've tried a bunch. My old cohort tried to get me addicted to Islay and heavily peated. No thanks! I can do without that iodine flavor.

Speyside and Highland for me!
We have a dog named Barley (sheltie) (hmm, how did we come up with that name  ) and an unopened bottle of Islay Barley....
Islay rules!

Jim Dale and Brennan Fraser are amazing audio book readers. Mr. Frazer's readings of Inkspell and Dragon Rider are captivating.

Some may find the books a bit cheesy, but I must mention Stephen Fry's reading of the Harry Potter series..

A few hours ago, after not thinking of this story since well into the last century, it popped into me head as I was talking with an old lover on the phone. So I had to tell it to her.
And here it is again. If you do a Google search for it in pdf form it is easy to find on the internet. Recommended.

It's been a while, but time and again it literally is. A search in this thread for Yorkshiremen lead me to this:

We used to dream of living in a cardboard box.

You were lucky!
We lived for 3 months in a brown paper bag in a septic tank....
It's been a while but once again we are back to the four Yorkshiremen :relaxed:
Only about 55 000 posts ago!

At some point it was car stereos and their use to mask bad cars and bad roads, at some point there were stories and discussions about the Cowen Cardboard Construction Company (maybe it wasn't called that but if so I'm taking that missed opportunity now) and how to properly make a cardboard house, at some point there was post upon post with various versions of the sketch, a game of identifying the actors in the original one, the list goes on.

I can't remember if they have a spot on the sine wave or not.

The Four Yorkshiremen isn’t a skit. It’s a documentary.

Good god, man. You better get that table cleaned off before the wife gets back. 🤣
Yeah, the final clean up is today before I head on the 2+ hour drive to traffic-from-hades Boston Logan Airport. (And then another 2+ hours back).

Now that my son’s officially a Pilot for Southwest, I think we’ll start flying out of Manchester NH (an easy peasy 45 minute drive AND you only need 30 minutes for security as it’s a right-sized airport IMO). We get free standby flights for life with them (reward for our investment in edumacatin him up to be one o them there pilot guys).

I got the worst of the (previously hidden) puppy fur balls up, now a final vacuum and finding somewhere to put all that audiophile errata currently on the table…

One other thought “the morning after Yggy’s first full day of usel/listening”…

Now that I know that digital doesn’t have to SUCK and sound like AZZ anymore….

I should look into some kinda streaming to feed the habit…

This is current mini stack, plus I'll get a Vali. Will need to think about whether I want to throw a loki mini in there too... will figure out with you in PM's.
Always leave room for expansion. So probably a 10-shelf rack. 🤣

I am definitely a fan of Qobuz for great SQ, I have a dedicated server my son built but there are plenty of streamers out there others might recommend.
