Current State - Caldera Closed are on my head, and I am in awe like never before.





I feel the Aegis/CC pairing is truly something special!

I am so curious about the Caldera closed vs. Open. It would seem that ZMF doesn't have the typical tradeoffs of closed vs. open. I have the Atrium Open, but I see may great impressions of the Atrium closed. What do you think of a closed planar vs. open?

For instance, the Feliks echo and wa396a it's Superb. Sure, there are more expensive amps with better technicalities and versatilities, but ultimately the sound is coming out of the tubes and headphones.
Same with the cayin ha-3a, I paired it with mulllard 12au7 10m, and Mazda 6v6/ Mullard 6v6g st. And the sound coming out of these are georgous.

Great choices! The Western Electric 396A is a pretty legendary tube from what I’ve read. And the Mullard 10Ms are apparently something else, too.

If I hadn’t happened on my Brimar 6057Ts in mint condition, I would likely have had hunted down a pair of those Mullards.

The Brimar find was an interesting story, if you search for my posts and “6057T” you should find that tale. In short- random and very fortunate, and a fun discovery.

ZMF Atrium Open (Aged Cherry), Norne Audio Vykari cable, Woo Audio WA3 (tubes: Cetron 7236, pair Brimar CV4033 KB/FB [Footscray, 1957]).

Unfortunately.... I haven't used ED8 for a few months now.
The earpads you see in the picture are the ones I ordered from AliExpress, and they don't fit at all.
So I couldn't get the right earpads, so they're just on display

Rack mounted the Korg! Pretty happy with the 2U enclosure I got off etsy. Taking the Spring 1 KTE for possibly one last test drive before selling it.
