I pulled the plug from the socket without muting the amp. I knew better than to do this but I was kind of mentally impaired.... if you know what I mean. Two minutes later the amp just fizzled out.
its a total pain in the backside.
i believe a way around it is to use a balanced cable with an adapter to single ended, and leave the adapter plugged into the amp.
still a pain though

Before I tested Phonitor, I read about issues with 1/4 jack so I was very careful about it during the test (I would turn off the unit before unplugging the jack, just to be sure nothing goes wrong) and I felt it is so burdensome when you need to think about it all the time...Another issue I read about Phonitor are diying VU meters.

luckily no VU's on mine

Yep the lights go out on the left one and or the meters stop moving.
