Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

@Audeze Updated my Maxwell to v1.0.1.60 and noticed a significant tuning change (a much darker sound profile) for the Audeze preset. Was this intentional?

I also noticed a volume level change—on v.1.0.1.56, I would normally reach comfortable listening in the 40% range (Windows) but now I'm reaching 60%+.

Personally, I am not a fan of the tuning change. Is there a way that the older tuning can still exist in firmware v.1.0.60 and beyond? If not, I think this should be reconsidered since this change is subjective and isn't inherently an improvement for everyone.

Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately I have exactly the same problem.
I would even say it is much quieter.
Before I always played at around 40%, now I have to set it to 80-90%

I hope a fix comes quickly.
and you are right, the sound a much darker sound

Same volume issue here on MacOS. I have to turn up to 80-90% for comfortable (not loud) listening.

how does the Dekoni pad depth compare to the Wicked pad depth?
I sent an inquiry asking whether their sheepskin depth was similar to the stock vs the Wicked Cushions.

So take that as you may...
Did anyone splurge for the Dekoni sheep skin pads?
With that being said above, I decided to want to try them out anyway for the quality/feel of sheepskin at least and return them if I feel my ears touching like they were with the stock pads. I think they'll come to me by Friday or Saturday.

Lots of complaints on the Audeze Reddit as well. Hard to imagine why they’d tinker with the DSP profile this far outside of release. The volume limitation is also troubling. Hopefully we will get an official response soon.

V60 is not meant to change the tuning or volume. This is a bug. We will investigate and fix this in the next update as soon as possible.

If you have issues, email us at support@audeze.com for direct assistance.

I do personally like the darker/fuller sound but yes, the volume is much lower.
As someone who personally finds the stock tuning the epitome of "fine!" or "meh!" should I update for the unintentional tuning change? Lol

Version 61 for Maxwell is now available for installation in the Audeze HQ app, which addresses several known issues and changes the default auto-shutdown idle threshold to one hour.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by our brief, unintended public accessibility to version 60, which caused incorrect EQ values for some users.

Please update your Maxwell to version 61 using the latest version of Audeze HQ which can be downloaded here.

For instructions on the firmware update, see our support article here.
