This is an exact replica of an American food dish from the 1700s.
Johnnycakes and peas porridge (1700s version)
Johnnycakes originated from the Native American Indians and new settlers adopted this dish. The cakes are cooked with lard instead of oil because oil was not commonly used in cooking during that time period.
The peas porridge is made from milk and mint leaves. Of course there are modern versions of peas porridge and johnnycakes but this was a variation of the time period. It’s a nice rustic dish filled with history
