American food of the 1700s.

This is an exact replica of an American food dish from the 1700s.

Johnnycakes and peas porridge (1700s version)

Johnnycakes originated from the Native American Indians and new settlers adopted this dish. The cakes are cooked with lard instead of oil because oil was not commonly used in cooking during that time period.

The peas porridge is made from milk and mint leaves. Of course there are modern versions of peas porridge and johnnycakes but this was a variation of the time period. It’s a nice rustic dish filled with history

Birria Tacos

This is a trendy Mexican dish and wow, I absolutely love it. You dip it in an amazing beef broth

Keep in mind that there are mediocre versions so it’s best to get them in a Mexican community. However in New York City and the New York suburbs you can get good versions in non Mexican communities if you look around

Ramen garnished with big deep fried pork ribs

Wow this was an amazing garnish for these ramen noodles. Excellent pork ribs that were sizzling hot out of the deep fryer and had a nice garlic marinated taste. Tender and juicy too What a fantastic dish. A surreal unusual ramen dish. A winner.

Chinese beef brisket noodle soup

This may possibly be the greatest noodle dish I’ve ever had. The noodles are house made too in the restaurant. Loved it. Could be the dish of the year.

Also had Chinese duck which I always love. Savory and juicy with the juices flowing on to the glorious bed of rice. Could this be heaven?

Chinese Sea Cucumber

This was from an expensive high end Chinese restaurant. An unusual seafood dish but I love it. A form of Chinese fine dining in an upscale Chinese restaurant. Fit for a king………..Dinner is ready your majesty!

Roast Duck Noodle Soup

An outstanding Chinese dish. This restaurant served extra duck meat in this particular bowl. One of my favorite dishes.

Roman fried artichokes

Also known as Carciofi alla Guidia

This is an artichoke dish that’s popular in Rome. Occasionally you can find it in America in an Italian restaurant. Nice and crispy. A great dish with cocktails

Bland Quaker's 1-Minute Oats with over-steeped Green Tea. Two good reasons to own an electric kettle. Both items are cheap, quick, and not unhealthy. Going to use this meal to offset the huge amount of pizza I had earlier today. Also, don't mind the girly bowl.

Pad See Ew

This is a really nice noodle dish of Thailand. I love the chewy al dente like texture of these noodles. You can tell the owner of the restaurant knew the right kind of noodles for this dish.

Look how moist and delicious these noodles are. Mmmmm…..

Onigiri

This is like a Japanese convenient fast food. It’s basically a rice ball with something stuffed inside. It could be rice with meat or vegetable product.

These are very common in convenient stores and train stations in Japan. You just grab one and go. Super convenient.

Occasionally you can find them in America. I really like them a lot.
